Dear Speech Director:
It is time to start planning to attend the Cozad Holiday Speech Invitational. The start of the season is on the horizon, mark your calendars now for our 2023 tournament.
THIS YEAR THE CONTEST WILL BE HELD ON SATURDAY, December 14, 2024.
This is a great opportunity to start your season early.
In addition to the standard NSAA events, we will feature Improvisational Duet. Improvisational Duet topics will be drawn in the auditorium and will utilize a 30-minute preparation time. Improv. Duet judging standards are similar to Duet Acting with the exception of an eight-minute time limit.
Duet / Duo entries will be allowed scripts.
The invitational will be held at Cozad High School and Cozad Middle School. The address of the high school is 1710 Meridian and the middle school is 1810 Meridian. The schools are connected so your competitors will find the location of rounds to be convenient. Registration will take place at the high school. Medals will be awarded for first through sixth in all individual events. Our format includes 3 rounds and no finals in all events. This will be an “open” meet, which means that all competitors will compete in the same division (no varsity/novice separation). Entry fees are $7.00 per event for individuals and groups. **The registration site will ask for novice and varsity for entries and judges. However, all entries will be combined into one division**
Extempers should refrain from triple entering within the same flight due to timing issues. Judges fees will be $70.00, or one qualified judge for every six entries. We ask that you make every effort to bring enough judges to cover your team’s entries (we prefer judges to dollars anytime). We cannot overemphasize the need for you to cover your entries.
All entries are due Tuesday December 10, 2023 by 12 P.M. (noon)
