Greetings Colleagues, Coaches, and Friends!

The University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign Speech and Debate Team is pleased to invite you and your team to attend The Coolest Tournament Ever, taking place asynchronously from October 9th-14th! 

As a student-run team, participating in this tournament helps us to be able to afford things like black books for our competitors, travel fees, and ultimately, keep our program running.

TOURNAMENT INFORMATION

ENTRIES: Asynchronous videos and registration are due to Speechwire by Monday October 9th at 8 p.m. CST. Entries and Video links should be posted to Speechwire.

FEES & JUDGES: Entry fees are $10.00 per slot. Teams who face significant financial hurdles or are student-run may reach out to our tournament director, Rachel Perkins, at rachelp7@illinois.edu for a fee waiver. 

JUDGES: We ask that your team provide one judge for every six entries. Hired judges are available at $12.00 per uncovered slot. Due to the difficulty of finding high quality hired judges, we ask each team to furnish at least one judge. Teams whose judges do not complete their asynchronous rounds will incur a $25 drop fee per uncompleted round.

LIMITED PREP: Limited Preparation events only need to provide one video for the tournament.  Prompts will be posted to Speechwire under “Files for download” by Friday, October 6th.  Impromptu speakers should include prep time in their videos.  Extemp speakers need NOT include prep time.

AWARDS: Since we are a largely self-funded team, we will be giving out bragging rights instead of trophies for finalists. A virtual awards ceremony will be livestreamed on our team facebook page at Noon on Saturday, 10/14.

PAYMENT: Invoices will be emailed shortly after the tournament and payment will be accepted via PayPal, sent to illini.forensics@gmail.com, or checks made out to "Illini Global Forensics" mailed to: 700 W Oregon St Urbana, Illinois 61801

10/6: LP Prompts released on Speechwire

10/9, 8 p.m. CST: Entries and videos due to Speechwire

10/9, 10 p.m. CST: Prelim rounds will be blasted to judges on Speechwire

10/12, 4 p.m. CST: Preliminary Round judging feedback/scores due

10/12, 6 p.m. CST: Final Rounds posted on Speechwire

10/13, 6 p.m. CST: Final round judging feedback/scores due

10/14, 12 p.m. CST: Virtual Awards ceremony on the Illini Speech & Debate Facebook page

10/14, ASAP after awards: Ballots released to coaches via Speechwire
