Dear Speech Coaches:

On behalf of the Holdrege Speech Team, we are excited to invite you to attend the Voice of the Plains Tournament on Saturday, February 28 at Holdrege High School.

Events: Contestants are allowed to triple enter, but please keep in mind students will be on a tight schedule. We will run all ten NSAA events.

Competition/ Awards: The tournament will include both novice and varsity divisions with medals awarded to the top eight places in both novice and varsity events. Superior performances will also receive ribbons. We will also give plaques to the top team in both novice and varsity divisions, with an overall Sweeps winner plaque. You may enter each competitor in a maximum of three events. The format will include two rounds, with the top six advancing to finals. (NO FINALS IN ANY EVENT WITH LESS THAN 10 ENTRIES) NOVICE FINALS WILL HAVE ONE JUDGE. VARSITY FINALS WILL HAVE TWO JUDGES.

Registration: To help us with planning, please register through SpeechWire at your earliest convenience and indicate if you are or are not intending to attend. Fees are $7.50 per entry, and you need to provide one judge for every six entries or pay an additional $100.00 for any uncovered entries. We would prefer judges over money, so please do your best to cover your entries with QUALIFIED judges. Please remember that you are responsible for the judges you intend to bring to the meet – if you do not arrive with the number of judges you specified in your entry, you will be billed accordingly. Also, we encourage you to bring certified judges to help ensure the best possible experience for the students. Please indicate if a judge is suitable for novice or varsity - first year returning graduates should be marked for novice judging only. Any judging drops will be billed accordingly to the school. All entries are due Monday, February 23, at midnight with any changes being completed by Wednesday, February 26. There will be NO entries accepted the morning of the tournament.

Hospitality: We will have breakfast and lunch for all coaches, judges, and bus drivers in our hospitality room. Holdrege Speech parents will sell breakfast food, snacks, and lunch for students and families from the concession stand. The gym will be used as ‘homeroom’ throughout the day. Please no radios, CD players, iHomes, food, or drink in that area.
