Willmar High School is excited to host The Willmar Cardinal Classic this year on January 17, 2026. We hope you will join us for this fun, exciting, and competitive start to 2026!

 

We are proud to be a bid tournament to the 2026 National Individual Event Tournament of Champions (NIETOC). 

 

As this will likely be the first tournament for many, we will emphasize a fun environment that allows students to grow competitively. There will be 3 preliminary rounds and a novice final round for each category. Our goal will be to provide a 4th round for as many speakers as we can through Next-IN and Merit Finals.

 

We are offering the 13 MSHSL Categories, plus Program Oral Interpretation and Impromptu Speaking. 

 

Double and triple entering is allowed. Discussion will be offset 15 minutes before the start of rounds so that double entering will be available for them. Discussion contestants may not double-enter in a draw category. 

 

We are attempting to run a near paperless tournament. We will utilize Speechwire for schematics, eballoting, and drawings. I will provide more information about all of this as we get closer to the tournament.
