Happy New Year and greetings from McGregor!  We are excited to be hosting a meet this year and look forward to seeing you there!

What:             McGregor Mercs Firefighters’ Speech Invitational 2024

Where:           McGregor High School, 148 S 2nd St, McGregor, MN 55760  - Please come in door 10 - by the auditorium. 

When:            Saturday, March 16, 2024

Tentative Schedule:

                       7:30 A.M.- Registration begins outside the High School office.

                        8:30 A.M. - Draws begin for Round one on 2nd floor in the High School Library

                        8:45 A.M - Judges' Meeting (in the Home Ec room)

                        9:00 A.M. - First round begins for all events

                        10:30 AM - Round 2

                        Noon- Round 3

                        2:00 PM - Awards (in Auditorium)                   

Format: Three straight rounds of speaking in all 13 MSHSL-endorsed categories, no final round 

Registration Deadline:  You must have registered on Speechwire by 5:00 P.M. on Thursday, March 14. You will be able to do your adds and drops online via Speechwire Saturday morning (3/16) until 8:00 AM.

Cost: Registration is $6 per entry. (Each duo pair is one entry)  Please make checks out to McGregor School ISD4.

Double-entering: Students are allowed to double enter if they are not in discussion. Dramatic duo pairs count as one entry.

Judges:Please provide one judge for every six entries (1:6) or fraction thereof. Please let me know ASAP if you need a judge. A fee of $80 per judge will be assessed to the team needing coverage. (Each duo pair should be counted as a single entry in calculating the number of judges required.) 

Concessions: We will have hot dogs, candy, pop, etc. for purchase.                                                 

Awards:  Medals will be presented to the three top speakers in each category.  Ribbons for 4th - 6th places will be provided and team trophies for 1st - 3rd place.

Rules will follow MSHSL standards.
