Tournament Details/Schedule

· Tournament Location: All events will compete at Springboro High School, 1675 South Main Street, Springboro, OH 45066

· This is an in-person tournament in the GMV District. All events for this tournament will be held in-person at Springboro High School.

· ***PLEASE NOTE THAT BECAUSE BALLOTS FOR THIS TOURNAMENT WILL BE COMPLETED ON-LINE, IT IS IMPERATIVE THAT COACHES ENTER A VALID EMAIL FOR EVERY JUDGE AND COMPETITOR.****.

· Since this is our first tournament, we may have to put caps on the number of entries in some events. To be safe, we will begin with @20 students in each Speech event, 60 students in Congress, 44 students in LD, and 68 students in PF.

· Any overflow will be placed on the waitlist, with the expectation that once we see attendance, we will likely be able to adjust.

· REGISTRATION will take place at the front entrance from 7:15 – 7:45 am.

· We are hoping to start the competition at 8:30 am.

· A variety of lunch options will be offered to students. We will do our best to accommodate special dietary needs, but please feel free to bring your own food if you feel the need. There are no vending options for students. We plan to have 45 minutes for lunch for each group of students.

· The awards ceremony will be in the auditorium @ 4:00 pm.

Deadlines:

· Deadline to add/drop entries: Friday, January 5^th @ 6:00 pm.

· Deadline to add/edit judges: Friday, January 5^th @ 6:00 pm.

Registration Fees:

· $10.00 per entry in PF, and Duo and $5.00 per entry in all other events.

Awards:

· Our tournament trophies are being created in the SHS Engineery Lab by Springboro students!

· Trophies will be awarded to the top six placements in each event.

· There will be an award for the top novice in each category, so make sure to mark any of your first-year competitors as novices.

Tournament Events

Congress:

· We plan for 3 rounds of CD

· Congress will use the OSDA docket for January 6^th.

Speech:

· We plan for 4 rounds of DEC, DI, DUO, HI, INF, IX, OO, POI, and USX

LD/PF:

· We plan for 5 rounds of LD/PF if we have enough rooms and time.

· The last 3 rounds will be powered.

· PF/LD will use the NSDA topics for January 2024.

Judge Requirements:

· IX/USX: One (1) judge for every five (5) entries (a Duo team counts as one entry)

· PF/LD: One (1) judge for every 2 debaters/teams.

· Congress: One (1) scorer or parliamentarian for each school that has Congress entries.

· Speech: One (1) judge for every (5) entries (a Duo team counts as one entry)

· Please enter your judges by Thursday. All judges will be served lunch at no charge.
