SFCFL 1: North Miami Senior October 21, 2023 

The SFCFL Speech & Debate world invites you to the 1st SFCFL tournament on Saturday,  October 21, 2023. Remember, you must be a paid member of SFCFL to attend this tournament.  Additionally, any student who wishes to compete at the Grand Final Tournament in March must  attend one complete SFCFL tournament. North Miami Senior High School is located at 13110  NE 8th Ave, North Miami, FL 33161 

EVENTS: Novice & Varsity Public Forum, Novice & Varsity Lincoln Douglas Debate, Varsity  & Novice Congress, Extemporaneous Speaking, Program Oral Interpretation, Original Oratory,  Oral Interpretation, Dramatic Performance, Declamation, Informative Speaking, Declamation,  Duo Interpretation, After Dinner Speaking, Impromptu Speaking, World Schools Debate 

ENTRY LIMIT: 8 entries in each category. DOUBLE ENTRY IS ALLOWED IN SPEECH  EVENTS. 

STUDENT ENTRY FEE: $25.00 per student payable to SFCFL. 

JUDGE REQUIREMENTS: 1 judge for every 5 IE (including Congress), and 1 judge for  every 2 debaters or fraction thereof, but you cannot mix PFD or LD judges. Please make certain  you have the correct number of judges. 

REGISTRATION DEADLINE: Enter online at www.speechwire.com. Entries will be  accepted through Tuesday October 17, 2023. Changes and drops may be made until  Thursday, October 19, 2023, at 10:00 a.m., but you will be charged the entry fee for any  student originally entered. The web site will be closed Tuesday night. 

MEALS: All student and judge/coach entries will be provided one meal. Please make the meal  selections, including noting all gluten free options on Speechwire. It is the responsibility of the  coach to ensure all meal numbers are correct. Additions or changes at the tournament will not  be accepted. All coaches should add a meal for themselves even if they are not judging. Judge  and/or Coach Meals will cost $10.00 a meal. The student meal is included in the entry fee. 

TOURNAMENT SCHEDULE: Registration will take place between 7:15-7:45 a.m. in the  Media Center. Please make sure to check in at this time or we will have to drop the team.  We will offer 5 rounds of competition in all events, 3 sessions of Congressional Debate and 4  rounds of competition in World Schools Debate. An updated schedule will appear on  Speechwire.com. Awards should begin around 5:00 p.m.

LINCOLN DOUGLAS DEBATE (Novice & Varsity): 2023 September/October NSDA Resolved: The United States ought to guarantee the right to housing. 

STUDENT CONGRESS LEGISLATION: e-mail by Wedneday October 4, 2023 to dariocamara@gmail.com. Legislation will be posted on Speechwire under “Files for  Download” on or around Thursday October 5, 2023. 

EXTEMP TOPIC AREAS: American Business, Environmental Issues (Domestic/Foreign), Foreign Terrorism, U.S. Congressional Elections, U.S. Domestic Social 

IMPROMPTU TOPIC AREAS: School Dayz, Fall Feelin', Barbie World, College, BOO!

WORLD SCHOOL DEBATE MOTIONS

1. This House regrets the proliferation of voluntary eco-label systems.
