THE PATRIOT GAMES 2024

We are at UKTOC and a NIETOC bid tournament.

  • The PF UKTOC finals bid will happen in our ONLINE DIVISON

  • Speech UKTOC and NIETOC bids will be offered both in-person and online. Bid levels are determined by the entry numbers in each event. 

Events Offered:

Drama, Humor, Poetry, Duo, POI Program Oral Interpretation, Mixed-Draw Extemporaneous Speaking, Original Oratory, Informative Speaking, Impromptu Speaking, Varsity CX Debate, JV CX Debate, LD Debate, and Public Forum Debate.


We will run 4 prelims and all 3-1, and 4-0 teams will break to a finals round PF, LD.

We will run 4 prelims in both Varsity and JV policy, and determine the break based on entry numbers closer to the tournament. 

We will run 4 prelims and break to Semi-finals in Interp and Public Speaking events. Final placements in these events will be determined cumulatively, with the lowest rank in prelims being dropped. (This schedule may be adjusted for events with large numbers due to NIETOC and UKTOC bid rules)



Doubling Rules:

  • CX, JVCX, PF, and LD Debaters may not double-enter. 

  • Students in Extemp may only double-enter in two events ACROSS WAVES. Students must pay attention to the schedule, Extempers that double-enter risk losing part of their prep time.

  • All other Speech events can double enter in each wave.

  • All students can enter as many of the Async Events as they want.

  • Students CAN NOT participate in the PF Tournament online AND the in-person tournament simultaneously. Additionally, we will not have space at GW for virtual debaters to use to compete. 

ASYNC SPEECH RULES:

  • Each student must submit a single-take (non-edited) videotaped performance. The preferred format for submitting is an "unlisted" YouTube link. 

  • All Links must be submitted by Jan 9th at 7 pm. 

JV/Varsity CX Rules:

·  Varsity CX Debate is open to all debate teams.

·  JV CX Debate is limited to freshman and sophomore debaters or students in their first year of competition.

·  In JV CX Debate, no kritiks or counterplans are allowed.

·  In JV CX Debate, we will employ the NFHS Novice case limits

 

Judging Requirments:

  • ONLINE PF: All Schools ae required to provide a Judge for every two PF entries or portion thereof, for the duration of the tournament. We will allow the tournament to be split between days, but the judge must be avilable for all rounds posted on a given day. Judges are obligated one round past their furthest advancing team.
  • ASYNC SPEECH: All schools are required to enter a Judge for every 6 Speech entries or portion thereof. Ballots not judged in a timely manner may be reassinged to the team's coach, or to  another judge with a fee assesed to the school of the absent judge.
  • IN PERSON LD and PF: One judge must be provided for every three debaters or portion thereof. You must cover your obligation over the WHOLE tournament, you can use mulitple judges to do so. 
  • IN PERSON POLICY: One POLICY TRAINED judge must be provided for every four debaters or portion thereof.
  • IN PERSON SPEECH: One Judge must be entered for  every 6 Speech entries or portion thereof.
  •  

Additional Rules:

  • Each school (administration, teachers, and/or coaches) is responsible for ensuring they have proper parental permission for students to participate in an online tournament and to use the designated competition platforms.

  • A responsible coach must be available ON-SITE and VIA CELL at all times.

  • The competition is open to 9-12 grade students representing the school in which they are officially enrolled and doing so with the permission of their school administration and/or coaches.
