The Wrightstown High School Forensic team invites you and your team to the

Second Annual Blue Rose Forensics Tournament

This asynchronous tournament will culminate on Saturday, March 13, 2021.

Registration will be done through www.speechwire.com When you register, please enter a link to the unpublished YouTube video of the contestant’s performance. All events (including limited prep events) will be done with one video for all rounds, with the exception of storytelling (one video for each of the 3 stories) and OIL (one prose and one poetry video).

EVENTS: In addition to the usual categories, we will also offer NOVICE and VARSITY divisions in both Prose and Poetry (Novice competitors are in their first year of forensics).  And we will offer ORATORICAL DECLAMATION.

RULES: WFCA rules will be followed for applicable categories with the following allowances for competitors from WHSFA schools:

- Demonstration Speaking: There may be two speakers – (but they will be required to record in split screen format – like Duo, Play Acting and Group Interp if two speakers.)

- Group Interp. & Play Acting: 12 minute time limit

- Oratory: One 4x6 notecard is allowed – but not required

- Solo Acting: A single, stationary chair is allowed – but not required

- Public Address entries should be entered in Oratory

- Oratorical Declamation is also available following NCFL rules.

A document articulating deviations between rules of WFCA and WHSFA can be found here.

ENTRIES:  Teams may enter as many entries as they would like with up to the top 25 counting toward the team score.  We welcome DOUBLE and/or TRIPLE-entries by students in any categories.  Note: Novice Prose/Poetry are only open to students competing in their first year of high school forensics, not their first year in the category.

VIDEOS:  Record as many times as you would like, but submit only an unedited, one-take video as the official entry.  Upload videos to YouTube as unlisted and include the links with the entry (you will see an icon for the video links in Speechwire).

STORYTELLING: Videos should be in the following order: Round 1 - Ghost Story; Round 2 - Fable; Round 3 - Finally being heard; Final - student’s choice.

ORAL INTERP: Please enter Rounds 1, 3 with the POETRY link and Round 2, Finals with the PROSE link.

IMPROMPTU:  The video should be the full 5 minutes, which includes all the prep time and speaking.

RADIO and EXTEMP: Do not need to record and submit prep for those events, but students should upload their performance within 45 minutes of opening the attached prep materials.  Limited prep category materials will be released on Monday, March 8, 3:00 P.M.  We will send the materials directly to coaches via e-mail and will have more detailed instructions in that e-mail. WE WILL BE ASKING FOR LIMITED PREP EVENTS TO SUBMIT A SEPERATE LINK (and presentation) FOR EACH PRELIM ROUND. Then for the 4th (power round) link, they may use their favorite of their prelim submissions.

GROUP INTERP, DUO, and PLAY ACTING: Please have students record videos in split screen, even if competitors reside in the same household.

JUDGES:  Please provide one qualified judge for every five entries or fraction thereof.  If you are short on judges, you may hire one of our independent extra judges at a rate of $120/judge.  You must provide the number of judges you indicate on your original entry. Make sure your judges can handle virtual judging.  Judges must meet all ballot submission deadlines or your team will be assessed a fee.

FEES:  $10 per individual entry and $12 for each group entry (Duo, Group Interpretation, and Play Acting) as of your team’s registration on Speechwire through 4:00 P.M. on Thursday, March 11.  Please make checks payable to WRIGHTSTOWN Forensic Team.
