Welcome to the Elkhorn South High School Speech Tournament!

The Elkhorn South Speech Team invites you to attend A Storm of Speeches Tournament to be held on Friday, March 6, 2020.   We will have two preliminary rounds and then finals. All events will have 3 judges and therefore 3 ballots for breaking into finals.  We are pleased to announce that A Storm of Speeches is a NIETOC Qualifying Tournament.

ENTRIES ARE DUE BY 8:00 p.m. ON TUESDAY, MARCH 3 

EVENTS and RULES

We will offer the following events: Informative (10 min max), Impromptu, Persuasive (OO), Entertainment, Poetry, Humorous (HI), Serious (DI), Extemporaneous, POI,  Duet Acting/Duo Interp (12 minutes of either), and OID.

ENTRIES and FEES

Students may triple enter.  However, we will not hold a round if they are running late.  

Entry fee will be $8.00 per event.  

Any entry not “covered” by your judges will cost an additional $20.00 per entry.

**There will be NO refunds for drops after your entry has been received**

JUDGES

You must provide one qualified judge for every five (5) entries.  

Any entry not “covered” by your judges will cost an additional $20.00 per entry.  

Please try to cover as many judges as possible.  

ALL JUDGES MUST BE AVAILABLE FOR FINALS.

**We will be utilizing online ballots. Please make sure your judges have access to an electronic device**

AWARDS

Ribbons will be awarded in preliminary rounds for first place.  Trophies will be awarded to the champion in each event with medals for 2nd–6th place.  There will also be a trophy for top novice in each individual event, except IMP. Sweepstakes will be awarded to the top two teams.

CONCESSIONS

There will be a concession stand and a judges and coaches lounge provided all evening.

ASAP Awards

**We will send six students in all events to finals and if entries allow six to honors finals, and so on in all events EXCEPT OID & DUET which will only have 4 teams in each.

 "Students advancing to bid rounds of this tournament will earn one official bid for the 2020 NIETOC hosted at Frank Dobie HS in Houston, TX May 8-10, 2020."
