Hello Coaches,

We would like to welcome you to our Lakeland High School Speech Invitational! We will be offering 14 IHSFA speech events and follow IHSFA rules with exceptions specified in invitation. Our time zone is Eastern Standard Time.

Entries are due by Tuesday January 28 , 2020 at 8:00 p.m. Only name changes and drops will be accepted after deadline. All registrations shall be done on Speechwire.com

Registration shall be from 8:00-8:45 a.m on February 16th  * Extemp prep starts at 8:45 a.m. 1st round at 9:15 a.m.

Entries: Varsity division with a maximum of 5 per event.

The website will be open for drops until 7:00am that morning. After that time, please text drops to (260)499-1900 so the tournament can be ready to go.

Extemp:  Draw Rounds 1 & 3. Speakers will use round 3 topic for finals.

Discussion: Artifacts will be released on Monday evening of the week of the tournament.

Broadcasting:

Round 1: 5-minute News program including a commercial related to Valentine's Day. Music is student choice.

Round 2: A 2-minute Editorial on an issue of national concern.

Round 3: ON-THE-SPOT

Final: The 5-minute News Program.

Food: Breakfast from Foltz Bakery and Pizza for lunch along with concessions will be available for purchase for students. Please plan on supporting our fund raiser.

We appreciate hosting your teams and your support for our team. Judges shall be provided homemade food for their enjoyment and thanks for helping.

Awards: Top 6 places receive certificates in each event and top 4 schools earn certificates.

Judges: One judge for every 5 entries or portion thereof. 6 entries= 2 judges.

Events: All events shall go 3 preliminary rounds with a final.
