View manager contact information South Florida NSDA Holiday Debates Tournament Dear Coaches: We would like to extend an invitation to you and your team to participate in the 7th Miami-Dade After School Debate Tournament to be held on Wednesday, March 11th, 2020 at Downtown Doral Charter Upper School. These tournaments are great opportunities for students who are new to forensics to participate in a “mini-tournament”. SPECIAL FOR THIS EVENT! We will be offering billingual entries in Dramatic Performance and Student Congress. That means students could choose to prepare a piece or speech in English OR Spanish, and they will be judged equally side by side in the same round and competing with each other. We strongly encourage your students to try this unique opportunity out. We are also placing a entry cap on teams, because of the smaller venue, and limiting schools to 6 entries per event. Sorry for the inconvience this may cause. This Tournament Will Be Charging an Entry Fee of $7.00 per student Date: Wednesday, March 11th, 2020 Time: Registration – 3:30 – 4:00 PM Tournament Begins – 4:30 PM Location: Downtown Doral Charter Upper School, 7905 NW 53rd St, Doral, FL 33166 Registration will be held in the media center. SPEECH EVENTS - We Will Have The Following IE Events: DEC, DP, DUO, MX, POI/OI, OO, and INFO Debate Topics BIG QUESTIONS Resolved: Objective morality exists. LD - BOTH NOVICES AND VARSITY will use the March / April Resolution: Predictive Policing is Unjust. PFD - will use the March Topic Resolved: The United States should increase its use of nuclear energy for commercial energy production. Number Of Rounds: 2 in each event Send any congress legislation to Randall Martinez (ranmartinez@columbushs.com) by Monday, March 3rd at noon. We will publish legilsation by Monday afternoon on this website. TEAMS MUST BRING JUDGES – WE CANNOT HOLD A COMPETITION WITHOUT JUDGES – THERE ARE A VERY LIMITED NUMBER OF JUDGES AVAILABLE FOR HIRE! Varsity Team Members Can Judge At All ASTs Unless Otherwise Noted Dinner - Students will be provided w/ 2 slices of pizza and a bottle of water.
