The speech team at Northwestern University invites you to a “NU Year NU Swing,” Friday, January 31st in Evanston, Illinois.
“NU Year NU Swing” is a single-flight, flash-tournament featuring competition in all 11 AFA, NFA and NSC Individual Events. This year, Northwestern is swinging with our friends at Oakton Community College. We encourage you to attend their tournament the following day (Invitation: https://docs.google.com/document/d/11A06rY1DkAN6KbEilwDDbgCpiq_3JrlF02rm3lGawTg/edit) While Oakton is hosting a novice competition, “NU Year NU Swing” will offer competition for all eligible competitors. In addition, the tournament will feature a short primer on Worlds/BP Debate for students who are interested in participating in Oakton’s competition on Saturday.
Entries & Registration Each student may enter a maximum of two events. There is no limit on the number of entries per school. Teams can register for “NU Year NU Swing” at speechwire.com
IE Judges & Fees Entry fees are $0.00 for all covered entries. One judge will cover 4 entries. Uncovered entry fees are $25. Dropped entries (after Wednesday at 5p.m.) are $10.00, dropped judges are $50.00. Northwestern is happy to provide fee waivers for small and student-run teams.

We will do everything in our power to complete the tournament by 9p.m, including truncating awards if necessary.

Food The tournament will provide dinner for all competitors. It will likely be Subway, but we are open to suggestions! If you or a member of your team has a dietary restriction and/or other food concern, please fill out this form. Awards We will provide awards for the top 6 in each event and the top 3 Team sweeps will be calculated under the following paradigm: 6th place or any remaining finalist: 5 points 5th place: 6 points 4th place: 7 points 3rd place: 8 points 2nd place: 9 points 1st place: 10 points
Hotels We recommend staying near Oakton Community College if plan on attending their tournament. More information on local hotels can be found on their tournament invite.
Parking Northwestern University Parking Lots become free to visitors at 4p.m. We recommend parking on South Campus near 1841 Sherdan Rd or 1847 Campus Drive
