The Xavier HS Forensics Team is pleased to welcome you to the Hawk's Nest Forensics Touranment on Saturday, March 14th, 2020!  We are looking forward to a full day of exciting, high quality competition and can't wait to welcome you to our school.  Some helpful information:
*Competition will be held in one building, Xavier High School.
*A light lunch will be provided for coaches and judges in the library.
*The Xavier High School FBLA will be selling concessions and lunch options for students.  If you have a student with unique dietary/nutritional needs (vegan, allergies, or other issue), please plan to bring a sack lunch.
*Rounds: Each category will have competition scheduled for three of four possible time slots today.  That means every (single entered) competitor will compete three rounds and have one round off to observe.  Encourage your students to support their friends and team mates, check out something new, or just watch something fun during their round off!   Students may DOUBLE enter.
*Registration - 7:15-7:45am
*Extemp/Radio Draw will run in rounds 2, 3, 4.  The first draw time will be at 9:00am.
Rounds will begin at 8:15am, 9:30am, 10:45am, and 12:00pm.  Power Round times will begin at 1:15pm.
Awards: 3:00pm (or earlier if we can swing it!)
*OIL order and Storytelling order will be determined by random drawing at 7am, March 14th and will be posted on schematics.

ENTRIES: Each school may submit up to 25 varsity entries. No more than 4 varsity entries per category. Double entries are allowed. Please reserve double entries in draw categories for experienced competitors only. Speechwire will try to accommodate for those when it schedules entries, but it isn't a perfect system and ultimately the competitor is responsible for managing their double entry status effectively.
FEES: Entry fees are $10.00 per individual entry and $15.00 per group entry (Duo, Group Interp, Play Acting). Coaches should manage their adds and drops in Speechwire and keep their roster current in the week prior to the tournament. At noon on Friday, March 8th, Speechwire will close for changes and teams are responsible for their registration at that time - entries AND judges. After that time add and drop requests should be sent to Mariah Ervin at mervin@xaviercatholicschools.org.
JUDGES: Each school must provide one judge for every five entries or portion thereof. We have a limited number of hired judges available at a cost of $140 per judge. Teams with over 50 entries/10 judges are required to hire judges from the tournament.
AWARDS: Individual trophies will be awarded to the top three finishers in each category and remaining finalists will receive medals. Divisions will be determined based on actual entries on Saturday. Team trophies will be awarded to the top teams in three divisions.
RULES: All WFCA rules will be followed. We will offer Oratorical Declamation. NCFL rules and critiques will be used.  If you are interested, more information on this event can be found at: http://www.ncfl.org/declamation.  Be sure all judges attend the judge meeting at 7:45am to be breifed on the specifics for the day.
FOOD: On Saturday, a continental breakfast and light lunch will be provided for judges and coaches at the high school.  More details to come soon!
SPECIAL ACCOMMODATIONS:  If you have a student, coach, judge, or other member of your party that requires unique accommodations, please don't hesitate to contact Mariah Ervin for arrangements.

Thank you and we look forward to seeing you!

Sincerely,

Mariah Ervin
