Forest Lake H.S. Invite: The R.C. Streater Classic
General information This information is from a tournament in a past season! This is a High School tournament in Minnesota. View manager contact information Thank you for choosing the Forest Lake Speech Tournament - the R.C. Streater Classic! We are happy that you and your team have decided to attend. Our tournament will be offering competition in all 13 MSHSL events and Programmed Oral Interpretation (POI). Double entries will be allowed in all events; Discussion rounds will have a late start to accomodate students who wish to double enter in this event. Entry Deadline: Wednesday, Feb. 12 Drop Deadline: Thursday, Feb. 13 (All entry fees will be set on this date.) Site Scheduling: Please note that we will be site scheduling this tournament. Please make every effort to update your entries by noon on Friday. However, the drop window will be left open until Saturday morning, so coaches can make last minute drops on the way to the tournament. You will receive an up-to-date entry list on Saturday morning when you arrive. Make any Drop/Adds right away so that we may schedule round 1 in a timely fashion. E-balloting: This year we will be using e-balloting for the first time. Please make sure that your judges email information is entered into the Speechwire system and ask that your judges have an internet accessible device. We will have a few extra devices available for checkout if necessary. Paper ballots will be available for those that prefer to use paper ballots. More detailed directions and e-balloting set up help will be available the day of tournament for those judges new to the system. Entry Fee: $7.00 per entry. Double entries will be allowed in all events. Each team will be responsible for bringing one judge per every six entries or fraction thereof. Draw Event Information: Extemp. Reading will be using selections from all selection areas (Chapters 1,3, 5, 7, and 9) and poems 1 - 59 (ALL). Storytelling will be using stories 1 - 15 (ALL). In all draw events students will have a clean draw for all rounds. Discussion Information: We will be using the Section topics of the Discussion outline. Tournament Schedule: 7:30 Registration, 8:30 Draws for Round I, 9:00 Round I: All events except Discussion, 9:15 Discussion Round I, 10:00 Draws for Round II, 10:30 Round II: All events except Discussion, 10:45 Round II Discussion, 11:30 Draws for Round III, 12:00 Round III: All events except Discussion, 12:15 Round III Discusion, 1:00 Lunch, 1:45 Final Postings (Staggered Start Times) 4:00 Awards Awards will be given to the top 14 students in each category - 7 in the final round and 7 in the honor final round. Honorable Mention ribbons will be given to students with the first meld not breaking to an elimination round in each category. Team awards will be given to both limited entry teams (small teams) and unlimited entry teams (large teams). Concessions will be available throughout the day for students.
