REGISTRATION DEADLINE: Wednesday, January 22 at 5:00pm
 
 
 
Registration:  Registration will be capped at 550 entries. Once we reach our cap, we will try to accommodate adds as drops come in up until the registration deadline. 
                
Registration Deadline: Please register both competitors and judges on Speechwire.com no later than Wednesday, January 22, at 5:00 pm. Please note: in the past, we have filled up early and have had to close registration before the deadline. Please register early to ensure your team gets in. Drops after Wednesday, January 22 are allowed, but will not be refunded. We are grateful for updates to your drop list the morning of the tournament, as this can be done on your smartphone and will help us to keep the tournament on schedule. 
 
Fees: $7.00 per entry (Duo is per pair). Participants may double enter, but we request no triple entries.  Please bring entry fee checks or mail to 
Andover High School--Speech Team, 2115 Andover Blvd. NW, Andover, MN 55304.
 
Judges: One per 6 entries or fraction thereof. Preference of events is available during registration.  Please make sure your judges are well trained. A limited number of judges will be available at $100 per judge. Entries not covered by a judge will be charged the $100 judge fee.
 
Concessions: There will be food available in the concession stand near the cafeteria. We will also have a nicely stocked judges' lounge.
 
MSHSL Information: We will offer all thirteen MSHSL events. 
 
All rounds of competition will be mixed between varsity and novice competitors to provide a good example for our young competitors.
There will be three preliminary rounds and a final round. The ten-minute and seven-minute time limits will be adhered to.  Anyone going substantially over the time limit (30 sec.) will not be allowed to receive a 1 in any round.  This is in an effort to keep our tournament on schedule. Please make sure your speakers' cuttings are within the time limit.
 
Discussion:    Tasks will be distributed in-round and will come from Section I of the outline (INDIVIDUAL/GROUP ISSUES (Section Topics)).
 
Draw Categories:
Extemp. Reading Prose: Students will draw from all chapters in One 1934, and Three June 1940; and the first half of Five January 1941, to Letter to Marie-Laure pg. 258. Some of the cuttings MAY include multiple chapters in order to reach a full 7 minute performance. Students cannot repeat a story from their preliminary rounds in final round.
Extemp. Reading Poems: 1-30. Students cannot repeat a cutting from their preliminary rounds in finals.
Extemp. Speaking: Students can choose between United States (1-6, 12) and International (1-6, 15)
Storytelling: Stories 1-8. Students cannot repeat a story from their preliminary rounds in finals. 
 
Schedule: Times are approximate and subject to change as the day goes on. We will be site scheduling so please update.

Lunch:         Concessions are available in the cafeteria. Overflow seating for students will be in the foyer adjacent to the cafeteria. Judges and coaches will have breakfast and lunch served in the new north cafeteria.
