This is the first Speech tournament at Highland High School and the third event for the Calumet Forensics League. 

All 14 IHSFA events are offered. 

Round 1: 5:00 PM

Round 2: 6:00 PM

Depart: 7:00-7:15 PM

The Class of 2022 will be having a concession table with snacks and beverages to help us get through the evening.

Small bills are encouraged...ok, ok, let's be honest, they're required. :)

Welcome to the FIRST Highland High School Speech Tournament!! 
 
This tournament is open to all levels of achievement. (N/V)

Discussion: Common texts will be posted on November 5th.
        No doubling for Discussion participants.
Radio: Round 1 = News Program
(0 prep, 5 min delivery)
Commercial prompt will be posted November 5th.
Eight to ten minutes of news copy will be posted on November 8th.  
Posted materials are the official subject matter for the News Program.
Round 2 = Editorial
                        Students can choose their editorial material.
(1 min prep, 2 min delivery)
Impromptu: 7 min flex time 
(Please remind students to be proactive when wanting timing cues; new judges may be 
unfamiliar with the process of hand signals.)
Extemporaneous: Prep will begin at 4:30 p.m.; round 1 will begin promptly at 5:00 p.m. Speech will be used for both rounds. 
 
Please provide 1 judge for every 5 entries or fraction thereof. (5 entries = 1 judge / 6 entries = 2 judges
Varsity students will be alllowed to judge.  Please indicate in Speechwire that they are varsity students.
 
 
Depending on numbers, Novice and Varsity may compete in the same rooms. Ranks will be readjusted in Tab. 
 
We will do our best to keep your judges from judging your own students, but depending on numbers, this may be unavoidable. 
Varsity students are able to judge novice students.
 
Please enter through the main doors of the circle drive.  Parking is in the front of school and busses should be able to park to the north of that lot.
 
Please solidify your registration by November 8th, 3:00 p.m.  Last-minute drops are understandable, and if necessary, please text/call me at (219) 718-8858.
