General information This information is from a tournament in a past season! This is a Middle School tournament in Minnesota. View manager contact information  Welcome to the registration site of the 2020 Cotter Junior High Speech Tournament (Thursday 27, 2020)
Cotter (Winona, MN) is excited to host a middle school speech meet for students in grades 6th - 9th grade. Junior and Senior Speech Team members are invited to serve as judges.
The meet will take place Thursday, February 27, 2020! Our tournament will feature all 13 MSHSL categories, and there is no limit to total team entries or categories. Check-in on the day of the tournament is at the John Nett Center, 360 Vila St., Winona.
Tournament Format:
There will be three preliminary rounds of competition.
Storytellers, Extemp Speakers, and Extemp Readers should come with their first round speech selected and prepared.
Discussion: MSHSL Sub-Section Topics - Religious Based, Sports-Activities based, and Law Enforcement based violence.
Entry Fees:
$3.00 per entry (Duos count as one entry). Checks can be made payable to "Cotter Schools", with "JH Speech Meet" in the memo line.
***Special Note: You will be responsible for the full fee if you drop (as a team) past the deadline.
Registration Deadline:
Tuesday, February 25, 2020 at 10:00pm.
No-charge drops will be accepted up to Tuesday, February 25, 2020 at 10:00pm. After that, all entries are frozen and thus drops will be assessed a fee of $3.00.
To help better plan the rooms, please have all preliminary entries in Speechwire by Friday, February 21, 2020 at 10pm.
Judging Requirements:
Teams are required to bring one judge for every six entries.
Concessions:
Food will be available for purchase from our concessino stand for speakers and provided in the judges lounge for judges, coaches, and bus drivers.
Awards:
There will be team sweepstakes trophies awarded to the winner and runner up as well as individual awards in each category.
