Are you ready to rock?  Join us for the annual rocking JV/N tournament at Prospect High School.  Please accept this invitation to attend the Prospect Speechapalooza JV/N Speech Tournament on Saturday, November 16, 2019.  The tournament will be the standard three rounds with NO finals.  We do have a limited number of rooms, so registration will be closed once we reach the limit of students that we can comfortably accommodate.

ENTRY :  You may enter up to three competitors in each event, but may also request extra entries.  Requests for extra entries should be emailed to Adam Levinson (phsspeech@d214.org) Extra entries will be considered on a first-come, first-serve basis and preference is always extended to those who have allowed extras for our team.  Extra entries will be admitted at additional fees, and teams permitted extra entries will be expected to provide additional judges. If you would like extra entries please request them ASAP.

COMPETITOR INFO: Students who have been on a regional entry are not eligible for this tournament.  This tournament is is open to JV and Novice students. This is not a tournament for regular Varsity Competitors.

JUDGES :  Each team should provide one judge for every five entries in the competition.  A full team is expected to have six judges, and teams with additional entries should bring an additional judge following the 1 judge per each 1 to 4 entries ratio.  This is absolutely necessary for the success of the tournament. Without flights, all judges will be used and needed every round.

FEES :  A team entry fee of 1-28 entries (2 per event) is $175.  If you receive a third entry in any event, the fee will be $225.  This fee will be applied to all schools that have any third entries. If you receive a 4th entry in any event, the cost will be $250. This fee will be applied to all schools with a 4th entry in any event.

Rules and Preparation
Radio :  Prep will be at home the night before.  Stories should not be more than 24 hours.
Extemp :  Students will prep for 30 minutes in the Library.  There will be two preps for the preliminary rounds and one prep for finals.  Students may choose either prelim prep for the third round.
Impromptu :  We will be following the IHSA format.

Time :  There will be no official penalty for time (except in radio).  Judges may consider it as part of the criteria for ranking.
Awards will be given for each person who places 1st-6th. Ties will not be broken.  There will be no team trophies, but recognition for the top finishing teams based on 2 per event.

Please RSVP no later than November 1st, 2019; however, remember that registration will close if we reach a maximum number of students so please RSVP ASAP.  This tournament is a great introduction and early tournament. We are done early and students will see a combination of novices and strong new competitors.  We are also located less than 20 minutes from Palatine High School, so if you are splitting teams for the weekend, it is easy to do with their tournament.  We look forward to seeing you and are planning an exciting day for both you and your competitors.
