We are excited to invite you to the first tournament of 2020 on January 3rd and 4th! This year we will hold a PDQ in Policy Debate starting on Friday January 3rd. We will also offer Lincoln Douglas and High School Public Forum starting on Friday January 3rd. Our schedule looks like this:

 

Friday January 3, 2020: Held at Brecksville-Broadview Heights High School

12:00- 12:45PM  Registration

1:00 PM - 2 rounds of Policy and 3 rounds of LD and PF. Our goal is to be done by 4:30 PM so everyone can get home on Friday at a decent hour.

We hope to have some students available to help with debate rounds. I encourage all of the teams to have their former debate competitors judge at our tournament before the students return to college.

 

Saturday January 4, 2020: PF, MS- PF, LD, Policy, Big Q, MS-Big Q and Congress at Brecksville - Broadview Heights High School. Speech and Middle School Speech TBD based upon attendance.

7:30 to 8:30AM Registration 

8:30AM - Extemp Draw

9:00AM - First round for everyone.

3:30PM - Awards at the High School

 

Our tournament will take place at our High School and Middle School, 6380 Mill Road; Broadview Heights 44147. The school is conveniently located near I-77. From the South take I-77 to the Wallings Road exit. The exit ramp will lead to Mill Road. Turn right on Mill Road and follow it to the signs for the Middle School and High School. For those coming from the North take I 77 South to the Wallings road exit. Turn left on Wallings, go over the bridge and turn right on Mill Road. Follow the directions above for those coming from the South. If you are coming from the East or West, somehow get to I 77 or use your GPS. When you turn into the driveway, the first building on the right will be the Middle School.  Proceed past the Middle School and up a short hill to the High School. Buses may drop off students at the Main entrance at the end of the main parking lot. Where the buses go from there depends upon several factors.  Stay tuned.

 

The tournament will conclude in the High School Auditorium. There will be NO shuttle provided from the Middle School to the High School. If the weather is agreeable, (c'mon what are the chances of being snowed out?) the students may walk up the short hill to the High School for awards. Otherwise have your buses pick them up at the Middle School. NOTE: BASED UPON REGISTRATIONS, I MAY OR MAY NOT NEED THE MIDDLE SCHOOL. STAY TUNED FOR UPDATES on that too!

 

Judges: One for two entries in each debate; one for five entries in speech; one for each congress delegation. We don't charge for uncovered judges. 

Fees: $20.00 per Policy, PF and $10.00 for DUO and LD teams. $5.00 for individual competitors in other events.

 

There will be food - judges eat free; kids pay. It's a fundraiser.
