Thank you for getting your team registered for the Scheidecker Memorial Tournament to be hosted on Saturday, February 1, 2020 at Aurora Metea Valley) High School.

School Address:

1801 N. Eola Road   Aurora IL  60502

Student Drop-Off and Pick-Up:

Please have your bus drivers drop your students at Door 1 on the southwest side of the building. It is marked "Administration." The TAB Room is just inside Door 1, and a quick right turn will direct your team down to the Commons Area. Buses can then circle back around to the "Bus Lot" on the south side of the building. Pick-up will be at that same Door 1 at the end of the day after Awards.

Registration Settings:

I will close registration settings for entering your students' names at 2:30 pm on Friday, January 31.  As our team sets up the building for competition, I will run the tournament schematics at 2:30 and start the folder-building process. Any drops or adds after that need to be texted to me (with your name and school to add to my Contacts) at 630.677.1582.  We will do our best to balance rounds accordingly.

Entry Fees and Judges: (checks can be made out to "Metea Valley HIgh School")

1-14 entries       $100        (2 judges)

15-28 entries     $150       (4 judges)

29-42 entries     $200        (6 judges)

43-56 entires     $250        (8 judges)

57- 70 entries    $300        (email me and we'll talk about it)

More than that?  Email me at mark_simon@ipsd.org and we'll work out something reasonable)

Tournament Structure:

We will have three Preliminary Rounds and a Final Round for top-6 and ties.  We do not plan on having a Novice or Next-in Final this late in the season, unless the breaks to Finals produce an incredibly unbalanced round.

PREP: We will follow the IHSA expectations for prep times for RS and ES, with one prep in the Preliminary Rounds and one for the Final Rounds. ES prompts will be International prompts in the Prelims and Domestic prompts for Finals.

SCHEDULE: We will have four staggered rounds as shared on the "Timeslots" Tab on Speechwire.

Concessions:

Our Boosters will be running a concession stand with snacks, water, pop, donuts, and pizza (because it wouldn't be a Speech Tournament without pizza, right?) in the Commons Area where your team will find tables. We appreciate your support of the team as the profits from that go directly to support our Mustang Nerds With Words.

TAB Room:

TAB is by invitation only, but please feel free to visit the Coaches' and Judges' Hospitality Lounge in the Faculty Cafe just off the Commons Area where your kids will be all day.

Awards:

We will move to the auditiorum for Awards, trying to stay on schedule to the best of our ability! There will be Individual Events medals for 1st-6th place (and Finalists) and Team trophies and plaques for teams finishing in the top five basing Sweeps on the top-2 in each event in Preliminary Rounds.

If you have any questions or concerns, do not hesitate to contact me via email (mark_simon@ipsd.org) or cell (630.677.1582).

We look forward to hosting you and your team!
