Welcome to the inaugural North Elementary After School Tournament (EAST) of the year!

 

This tournament will be held on Thursday, October 3rd, 2019 at JP Taravella High School! 

 

Registration will close on FRIDAY, September 27th at 5pm. Changes (drops or name changes) can be made until 12pm on that Thursday (the day of the tournament). Any hidden drops will result in your school being fined $25 per drop. You will be able to make your own changes until 12pm on that Thursday. Any changes after that, please text Megan West: 940.206.3806, Jaime Akkusu: 561.706.5375, or Justin Weaver: 954.790.8160 the school name, student who is dropping, and her/his event.

 

Be sure that you only register for this tournament if you are on the NORTH side of the North/South EAST split. The North/South split can be found on the Elementary Debate Canvas Course, and in the "Files for Download" tab here on SpeechWire. In order to maintain the safety and integrity of the tournament, we are requiring that the only parents in attendance at the tournament are official chaperones. Chaperones who are not judges will not be permitted in tournament rooms. Parents, even if they are chaperones, will not be permitted to watch competition rounds. They also need to be cleared through the district's star system. We appreciate your cooperation with this!

 

Buses will pick-up students at their home schools between 12:00pm and 1:30pm and take them to JP Taravella High School. All attendees will be directed to their holding location.  Coaches will need to check-in at the "registration desk" and then monitor their students. After the Taravella bell rings (2:40pm), students will be released to report to their rounds. Round 1 is scheduled for 3:15 and Round 2 is scheduled for 4:30. Congress will have ONE SESSION from 3:15-5:15. Awards will be in the Gymnasium around 5:45pm. Buses will pick up at JP Taravella High School at 6:00pm.

 

Congress legislation for October was provided in the Elementary Debate Canvas Course. It can also be found on this website under "Files for Download". Your students in Congressional Debate should be prepared for "A Bill to Mandate Cursive" and "A Bill to Abolish Standardized Tests".
