The Speech and Debate team from J.P. Taravella High School invites you to the 4^th SFCFL tournament on Saturday, January 18, 2020.   Remember, you must be a paid member of SFCFL to attend this tournament. Additionally, any student who wishes to compete at the Grand Final Tournament in March must attend one complete SFCFL tournament. For official rules, please visit www.sfcfl.org 

EVENTS: Novice & Varsity Public Forum, Novice & Varsity Lincoln Douglas Debate, Varsity & Novice Congress, Novice Team Debate (Policy), Mixed Extemporaneous Speaking, Original Oratory, Duo Interpretation, Program Oral Interpretation, Dramatic Performance, Informative Speaking

ENTRY LIMIT:     6 entries in each category. DOUBLE ENTRY IS ALLOWED IN SPEECH EVENTS.

STUDENT ENTRY FEE:   $20.00 per student –includes lunch - payable to SFCFL.

JUDGE REQUIREMENTS:      1 judge for every 5 IE (including Congress), and 1 judge for every 2 debaters or fraction thereof, but you cannot mix TD, PFD, or LD judges. Please make certain you have the correct number of debate judge. Schools with more than 35 IE competitors will need only 7 IE judges.

REGISTRATION DEADLINE:    Enter online at   www.speechwire.com. Entries will be accepted through Wednesday January 15, 2020 at 5:00 p.m.  Changes and drops may be made until Friday, January 17, 2020 at 4:00 p.m., but you will be charged the entry fee for any student originally entered.  The web site will be closed Wednesday night for adds. Drops after Wednesday night and before Friday at 8:00 a.m. will be charged the entry fee.  After 8:00 a.m. on Friday, drops will incur $10.00 in addition to the entry fee.   Please e-mail me any changes/drops, judge names after Wednesday evening.  Drops on the day of tournament or “discovered” during the actual tournament will result in the entry fee forfeiture plus a $20.00 penalty. 

LUNCH:  J.P. Taravella High School will provide lunches which are included in the entry fee. You must order for all judges, adults and/or coaches. Please remember to order lunch for your judges/coaches separately; cost for lunch for judges/coaches is $8.00. Judge and coach lunches will be automatically added if you choose to ignore this item. 

TOURNAMENT SCHEDULE:  Registration begins promptly at 7:15 a.m. and will close at 7:45 a.m.  Please be prompt. We will offer 5 rounds of competition in all events (3 rounds in Novice Team Debate) and 3 sessions of Congressional Debate.

2019-2020 Resolved: The United States federal government should substantially reduce Direct Commercial Sales and/or Foreign Military Sales of arms from the United States.
