The Dakotas Intercollegiate Forensics Committee cordially invites you to the 2019 Dakotas’ Tournament to be held at the School of Mines on Saturday 02/16 and Sunday 02/17.

Parliamentary Debate:

We will host 4 preliminary rounds of Parliamentary Debate, and outrounds as necessary depending upon entries.  Parli will operate on NPDA times (7-8-8-8-4-5). Teams will have 15 minutes of preparation time after announcement of the resolution in the competition room.

Warm prep will NOT be allowed.  Students should plan to prepare on their own, without coaching aid. Consistent with current NPDS tournament norms and rules, students will be allowed access to the Internet during the 15-minute preparation period.

Entry fees are $10/team plus $15 for each uncovered team judging fee. One judge covers two teams.

Note: a minimum of SIX debate teams will be necessary for the debate portion of the tournament to take place.  Fewer entries will result in cancellation of Parliamentary Debate.

Individual Events:

We offer two preliminary rounds of the eleven AFA events. As has been the case in recent years, the tournament will maintain an entry cap of 4 entries per event. Final rounds will be held in categories with entries sufficient for more than one section. At least three ballots will be provided for events with only one section.

Students may enter up to six events, three events per pattern.

Flighting is as follows:

A: Ext, Pro, POI, ADS, Info, Poe

B: Imp, CA, DI, Persuasive, Duo

Fees are $5 per entry slot, $10 per uncovered entry slot. One judge covers six slots. Schools are encouraged to bring enough judges to cover their entries. Fees will be assessed at noon on 02/13. Late entry drops and additions are $15 in addition to the original $5 entry fee. Dropped judge fees are assessed at $50.

The entry deadline is Tuesday, February 12, 2019 at 5:00pm. Entries are to be submitted to SpeechWire.com.

We are hosting out of the XXX Building (see parking map). Parking will be available in the XXXX lot (see parking map) and etc. Registration for debate and IEs will be in the XXXX (see building map).

Pizza will be provided for supper on Saturday night and snacks (i.e., fruit, etc.) will be provided on Sunday.
