"Stranger Things" Tournament

Coaches Information Sheet

 

Registration:  We’ll be using SpeechWire for registration.  This is the ONLY way to register for our Tournament.  To register your team, visit:  www.speechwire.com.  A fee of $9.00 for each individual entry and $12 for group entry (Group Interp, Play Acting).  Entry fees are per entry, not per student. Fees will be based on your confirmed entries. This is a Single Entry Tournament only, please. JV Teams: All speakers will be welcomed if there is room in the building. 

 

Deadline:  You must register via SpeechWire by Thursday, Jan. 31st at 1:00 pm.  After that point, email drops to jackjen@ug.k12.wi.us at your earliest possible convenience.  Entries dropped after that time will still be charged.   Day of tournament drops is strongly discouraged.

 

It will be a 3 Round, 1 Power Round traditional Tournament.  We will be using the WHSFA critique sheets for scoring, but also asking judges to provide a rank in each round for all students!  

 

Schedule: 7:45 Registration

8:30 Extemp and Radio Draw in Library

8:45 Students’ Meeting in Cafeteria (Judges Meeting in Rm. 122)

9:00 Round I

10:00 Round II

11:00 Round III

Power Round as soon as feasible

2:30 Winners revealed 

 

Awards: Power round contestants will receive medals and the top three speakers in each category will be awarded trophies. Three large team trophies will be awarded to the top teams. Two small team trophies will be awarded to qualifying teams with between 10 and 19 entries.

 

Judges:  Schools must provide one judge for every five (or fraction thereof) entries.  A limited number of hired judges will be available at a cost of $150 each. Judges do not need to be WHSFA certified to judge at this particular meet.

  

Food:  We are serving Breakfast for Lunch (Eggo waffles, eggs, sausage, toast, etc.). We will also have snacks and beverages available.  We suggest students bring around $5.00 to cover lunch and snack costs. 

 

Parking: Busses and judges, please park in our south lot. There is plenty of space available. Busses can drop off teams at the doors. The north lot is small and the doors will be locked, I can’t guarantee someone will see you and let you in.
