Happy New Year!

Welcome to 2019 and we hope that you can join us for the Yellow Springs Fearless Forensic Festival on Saturday, January 26th.

We are offering all OSDA events (except Policy Debate) for middle & high school with 3 IE & 4 PF rounds for MS and 4 IE & 5 LD/PF rounds for HS; there will be at least 4 hours of Congressional Debate divided across 3 sessions. Middle school students can choose whether to observe during the last rounds or take a break.  Double entry rules are IE only, no extemp cross entry, DE in Duo must be with different partner and TE only by special permission.  And, Bid Category must be declared before rounds begin.

This will be a great opportunity for your students to hone their presentations & skills before district qualifiers and the state/novice state tournaments.  To this end, we will be using the February topic for Public Forum, and we are also encouraging observation at our tournament to give middle school students the opportunity to learn and coaches the opportunity to develop their students' skills.  Parents are also invited to come to observe, and we will remind everyone throughout the tournament about the proper etiquette when observing.

Also, we will have plenty of great local coffee for judges and coaches from The Emporium as well as food from Ha Ha Pizza, ice cream from Young's Dairy and lots of other goodies - we are a potluck community - to keep everyone happy and energized.

The Top 6 in each category will receive signature medals, and we will have team sweepstakes and other special awards.  The tournament will use both our MS/HS (420 E. Enon Rd) and Elementary (200 S. Walnut St) buildings with everyone gathering at the MS/HS for the Awards Ceremony.  Registration can happen at either building, and we will have separate debate and IE tab rooms.  There is ample parking at both sites, and buses will want to drop off IE competitors at our elementary school and park at the middle/high school.

So, pull out your favorite tie-dye apparel and join us for a great speech & debate experience in our welcoming Village - 'Everyone's Favorite Place'!
