Port Washington High School

GENERAL INFORMATION

2019

  1. Registration will be done through www.speechwire.com; initial entries and judges must be on speechwire.com by Thursday, January 10, 2019. All adds must be completed by January 10 through speechwire.com. Drops may be done until Friday, January 11 at 3 p.m. Any adds after the deadline must be done by contacting the tournament host.

  1. Fees (registration and judges) will be assessed based on your entries on January 11. Fees are $10 per individual entry and $15 for group entry. The judging requirements are as follows: 1 judge for every 5 competitors (or fraction thereof). If you cannot meet your judging requirement, independent judges may be hired by the tournament at a fee of $150. Judge requirements will increase with added students.

  1. Rules: This tournament is run according to the rules of the Wisconsin Forensics Coaches Association.  We will offer WFCA categories including impromptu. To accommodate the category differences between WFCA and WHSFA, Public Address competitors may enter as Oratory entries.  We will advise judges not to penalize speeches in those categories that resemble their WHSFA approximations.  But please note, no notecards* in Oratory or chairs in the solo acting categories are allowed.

           * Due to the early nature of this tournament, students will not be penalized in ANY event for using note cards or scripts. However, students may be given preference if they are memorized in memorized events.

  1. Entries: You may enter up to 10 students in each event. The top 25 entries will be counted toward team awards. Students may double in any event except Extemp and Radio.  NOVICE AND VARSITY WILL BE SPLIT IN INFORMATIVE, PROSE, AND POETRY. Novice students are students in their FIRST year of FORENSICS competition (regardless of year in school).
