Dear Speech Coach(es),
It is our pleasure to invite you to the 10th Annual Whirlwind Speech Invite on January 19th, 2019 in Clearwater.
The competition will include divisions for both Novice and Varsity speakers in all NSAA sanctioned events. The novice tournament will run two preliminary rounds with NO FINALS while the varsity tournament format will be two preliminary rounds and a final round for events of ten or more entries. The top four novice speakers in each event will receive medals. The top six varsity entries in each event will receive medals. A sweepstakes award will be presented to the top novice and varsity teams.
The fee for each entry is $7.00. For every six entries, you must provide one judge to cover them. For each uncovered slot, a fee of $15.00 will be charged to overall entry. Please make an attempt to bring judges with you as our pool of experienced judges is limited.
We are limiting the number of teams to ten, so please reserve your team's place in our tournament ASAP. As we've done in the past, registration will be online via Speechwire. A code and additional information will follow as soon as we have it. You'll have until Thursday, January 16, 2019 @ 4:00 p.m to drop and add. Any drops/adds after that will need to be emailed to me. Entry fees will be frozen at that time.
A tentative schedule is:
7:007:45 Registration in Student Lounge
8:00 Round 1A (Duet, Humorous, Informative, & Entertainment)
8:30 Extemp Draw - Round 1
9:15 Round 1B (OID, Serious, Persuasive, Extemp, & Poetry)
10:30 Round 2A (Duet, Humorous, Informative, Entertainment)

11:45 Round 2B (OID, Serious, Persuasive, Extemp, & Poetry)
1:00 Finals Varsity Flight A (Duet, Humorous, Informative, & Entertainment)
1:30 Extemp Draw Finals
2:15 Finals Varsity Flight B (OID, Serious, Persuasive, Extemp, & Poetry)
Awards ASAP in the gym.
We are currently making arrangements for a concession stand, and there will be a hospitality room for coaches, judges, and bus drivers.
As the speech season will be just in its beginning stages, we ask that competitors consider this meet a learning opportunity. We request as a common courtesy, unless a competitor is double entered or has to draw for extemp, that all speakers remain in their rounds as a considerate audience for fellow competitors. Coaches, please keep your kids accountable and considerate with hallway etiquette and socializing/music in the gym.
Feel free to email me with any questions; we're looking forward to a fun and productive day of speaking!
