Parkland College would like to invite you to the “Parkland Winter Classic” to be held on Saturday February 3, 2018.

This IE tournament will be a novice tournament. A “novice” will be defined as any student with less than 2 years (four semesters) of intercollegiate competitive experience.

The tournament will have two rounds of preliminary competition, and finals in all events (with enough entries).  Lunch is included in your tournament fees, so we can keep things moving and finish on time.  Water and light snacks will be included in the student lounge.

Tournament registration will use SpeechWire and results will be posted after the tournament.

We are very excited to host this year and hope to see you February 3.

Flight B

Students may enter up to three events per flight pattern. Each school is limited to six entries for each event.  All events will follow Phi Rho Pi rules. www.phirhopi.org

Medals will be awarded to the top six entrants in each event. The top five speakers in Individual Sweeps will be recognized. In order to qualify for Individual Sweeps, a student must be entered in a minimum of four events (one must be an Interp event, and one must be a PA/LP).

Sweepstakes for the top five schools and a Top Performing school sweepstake will be awarded by calculating the total number of team sweeps points divided by number of slots entered in the tournament.

We will use qualified lay judges in ALL events.  Event descriptions and instructions will be provided.   Examples of lay judges may include:  My wife, Toast Master members, educators in unrelated fields and local community members.   Please show our judging pool how impressive you are in pre-round behavior and talent in the round.

Donate a Judge!

If you bring an extra judge the tournament will donate $10 every round you judge to the David jones Charity Speech contest!  You get to help a charity event and judge the best students in the country!

Any matters of dispute will be settled at the sole discretion of the tournament staff.

The entry fee is $8.00 for each IE slot; and an additional $10.00 per uncovered slot. Schools are required to provide one judge for every six slots.
