November 07, 2017Dear Colleagues, Eastern Ohio NSDA is hosting the second of our Big Questions Debate events of Tuesday, November 23, 2017 at Copley High School. This BQD event is to raise funds for the benefit of the entire Eastern Ohio NSDA membership. Participating schools will receive a $10.00 credit on their invoice for the EOHNSDA District Tournament or EOHNSDA District Congress. As this is a fundraiser for Eastern Ohio NSDA, there are NO entry fees! Yep, this is a FREE event! The more kids who compete, the more money for Eastern Ohio! At this time, we plan on offering 3 rounds of Big Questions Debate in two separate divisions: JV – single debaters OR a 2 person team; and Varsity – which is for debaters who will debate solely as individuals. If there is a clamor for a 4th round, let me know ASAP! This BQD event will be VERY relaxed! We are focusing more on raising $$$ than on winning trophies and glory! To that end, we encourage speech kids, debate kids and ANY kids to participate! Debaters do NOT have to be members of your team! Debaters do NOT have to be members of NSDA! Last year, we had kids of all types debate at our BQD events! We had “speechies” place over debaters All BQD resources, including affirmative & negative cases, topic analysis, and extension evidence is available for FREE on the NSDA website! your kids can just "rip and read" from these resources! We will also have ALL available resources under "Files for Download" on our SpeechWire website! Dress is casual – school appropriate! Jeans, sweats, hoodies, and typical “teen apparel” are fine! But, if a kid wants to “dress-up,” we are cool with that as well! Food will be mostly a “pizza & chips” affair. Eastern Ohio will supply “pizza & chips” for your judges. Please respect our host, Copley High School, and support their concession efforts – no outside food should be brought into the tournament. Registration: 3:00 pm. Round I: 3:30 pm or ASAP! We plan on sending you home by 8:00 pm!!! Join us on Tuesday, November 23, 2017! We will have a great pre-Thanksgiving time!
