2017 Northrop "All Bundled Up" Speech Tournament

The deadline for preregistration is Wednesday, November 25th at 5:00pm.

 

FORMAT:     

3 Rounds and a Final

„Sweepstakes points & ribbons for top 6 in each division

„Novice entries must be first-year competitors

                    

TIMING:        

„7:00-7:45     Check-in

„7:45          Judges’ Meeting

8:00          Extemp Draw Begins

 

EVENTS:      

Speech - Drama, Humor, DUO, Poetry, Prose, Original Performance, Congress,  Original Oratory, U.S. Extemp, Int’l Extemp, Impromptu, Broadcasting, and Discussion, Informative and Programmed Oral Interpretation

RULES:

 

All events can double enter with the exception of Discussion, Congress, and Extemp can only double in IMP, INFO and OO. Do this at your own risk!

 

Congress: Prepare bills 4, 6, 8, 10

 

 

Radio:

Round 1:  Commercial on a fictional product. (Bertie Botts Every Flavor Beans, Stay Puft Marshmallows, Los Pollos Hermanos, etc.) (1 Minute)

Round 2:  Editorial will be student choice. (2 minutes)

Round 3:  Newscast (3 minutes)

FINALS: ON THE SPOT

 

Extemp:  Draws will occur before Rounds 1 & 3 only.

 

Discussion Topic will be posted one week prior to the meet. 

 

IHSFA Rules will govern all other events.

ENTRIES:      „

40 Entries per team cap. Only the top 4 in each event, up to 40 entries will count towards sweepstakes points.

 

Novice is defined as first-year of competition.  If one duo partner is Varsity, the DUO MUST ENTER VARSITY.

JUDGES:    „

1 judge for every 5 entries or fraction thereof.  (5 entries=1 judge, 6 entries=2 judges)

AWARDS:     

„Team trophies for top 5 teams.

Sweepstakes points will be 8pts for 1st place, 7pts for 2nd place, etc.

 

Food:

Please refrain from bringing in outside food and encourage your competitors to purchase lunch and snacks from the cafeteria. Remember that the tournament expenses must be paid for from revenue gained in concessions.
