Shamrock Showdown
The Westfield and Fishers Forensics Programs would like to invite you to the first ever Shamrock Showdown, held at Westfield High School, .18250 N Union St, Westfield, IN 46074. Here are the particulars:
The tournament will start with a judges/competitors meeting at 7:30 AM.
We are attempting to maximize the number of competitors at a tournament with limited rooms, so anticipate some unusual fighting--- we will stagger the start of different events so, for example, some events will be running their second round while other events run their first. I sat with Ben Stewart for 30 minutes at clinic working on this and it all makes sense, I promise.
Contestants can double at their own risk in every event except for Discussion, Congress, and WSD.
There will be separate Novice and Varsity competition. Novice is for first year competitors or competitors who have never competed in WSD.
If competitors are doubled in Impromptu, they should go to Impromptu first and may then leave the room.
Extemp Draw is @ 8:00 AM. Students will draw again for 3rd round.
We will be offering all IHSFA speech events, congress, and World Schools Debate. We intitally were offering PF and LD, but need to CANCEL those because of room constraints.
Radio rounds will be following new format.
o 1 – 5 minute news program (music Lead in/ Lead out/ Commercial on an airline NEWSCAST prepared by student
o 2 .  2 minute  contestant written editorial on the EPA.
o 3- OTS 2minute prep / 2 minute speak
o 4 -  Same as round 1
Judges _ 1 judge for every 5 contestants.  But feel free to commit more.  The more judges we have the better off we are.
Congress Bills _ 3,4,5, and 6.
Discussion will be using Socratic Seminar with a 10 minute prep period prior to the round. Stimuli will be given the Monday prior to the meet.
Each school may enter 6 contestants in each speech event and 4 in each debate event, with an overall entry cap (for speech and debate combined) of 60. Congress may have 6, and 3 WSD teams of 5. Because of room constraints we are capping the overall number of entries at the tournament at 500.
All other IHSFA rules apply
We will offer 4 straight rounds of competition. Top ten in each event will be awarded and top 5 schools will receive awards
FOOD WILL BE PROVIDED ALL DAY. Please help us off set the cost of hosting by purchasing food and drinks.
Entries will be due 12/4/17 at 3 PM. That is both speech and Debate.
