NOBLESVILLE NIGHTFRIGHT 2017
 
**THIS MEET STARTS AT 1:30 PM, WITH AWARDS AROUND 9 PM**
 
LOCATION: Noblesville High School, 18111 Cumberland Road, Noblesville, IN 46060
 
 
Hello, Indiana Coaches! This will be our first ever SPOOOOKY night meet! ENTER IF YOU DARE! 
 
REGISTRATION:  I will accept registration on Speechwire through Wednesday, October 25, 2017 at 6 PM. If you THINK that you'll be attending our meet, PLEASE mark that "you will attend" on Speechwire. I want to have a ballpark number for my food vendors. Doors will be open for registration at 12:30 PM (ACT testing will be taking place until noon). This is a minimally flighted tournament, with rounds and extemp prep beginning at 1:30 PM! 
 
JUDGES & COACHES ONLY: You are HIGHLY encouraged to wear a costume to the meet! (No masks for safety reasons, please). To clarify, STUDENTS should NOT wear costumes. We will have a bucket for "best costume" nominations. The costume with the most votes will receive a prize! (Congrats to the 2015 Winner, Holly Reineking of Westfield - my students are still talking about your Harley Quinn costume!!)
 
FOOD: Heavy snacks will be available for purchase throughout the afternoon, with dinner served in the evening. We'll have Halloween candy, too. There will be LOTS of food!!
 
JUDGES/COACHES LOUNGE: There will be LOTS of food and seating. Coffee, bottled water, assorted sodas, candy, heavy snacks, healthy snacks, and an AMAZING dinner will be provided. Your judges will not want to  miss this judges' lounge - one for the history books!
 
EVENTS: Congress & ALL State speech events (including POI and Informative) AND Improv Duo
 
ROUNDS: 3 Prelim Rounds and a Final of 6 and Next-In Final (consisting of 7th-12th after prelims) of 6
 
DOUBLE/TRIPLE RULES: Competitors may triple if one of their events is Discussion, Improv Duo, or Extemp (no doubling/tripling across these events). Duos CAN double in OP, as long as the partners remain the same. Improv Duo may utilize any duo combination. Double/Triple at your own risk! If a student misses a round, a last place rank wlll be recorded for that round.
 
ENTRIES: NO ENTRY LIMITS (see "scoring" below)
 
JUDGES: 1 judge for every 5 entries or fraction thereof
 
POSTINGS: There will be a ballot room available to coaches only. Postings will be made available by the middle of Round 2. Coaches may choose whether or not to divulge results to their team.
 
CONGRESS: 1, 3, 5, 7
 
EXTEMP: Will draw for rounds 1 & 3. Competitors will give round 3 speech in the final.

DISCUSSION: All necessary material for discussion will be POSTED ON SPEECHWIRE in a Word document on the Sunday prior. Each discussion will last up to 30 minutes. 
 
IMPROV DUO: Competitors will have 2 minutes to prepare and 3 minutes to perform (5 minutes total) an Improvisational Duo with a given topic. 2 chairs provided. Competitors MAY touch/make eye contact. 
 
SCORING/AWARDS: 
 
1) Tabulation will be "clean slate" (final round scores determine placement). 
2) Teams may bring an unlimited number of entries. However, only the Top 40 entries from each team will be scored for Team Sweepstakes (this does not impact Individual sweeps).
3) Speech tabulation will use State scoring: 1st: 11 pts, 2nd: 10 pts, 3rd: 9 pts, 4th: 8 pts, 5th: 7 pts, 6th: 6 pts, and all Next-In Finalists (similar to semifinalists at State) will receive 3 points. 
4) We will award the Top 5 Individual Sweepstakes competitors with trophies
5) Top 10 teams will receive trophies. Top 12 competitors in each event will receive a ribbon and event champions will receive gold medals.
6) While there is no separation of Novice (first season competing) and Varsity competitors, the top novice in each event will be recognized with a certificate. Please mark your competitors accordingly in Speechwire so we can recognize our new competitors!
