Rutgers University is in the process of celebrating its 250^th birthday and for the first time in decades we are very excited to be hosting the first Rutgers University / SNAFU speech competition! Just a couple of notes about the competition so as to prepare you in advance of coming.

1. Competition Location: The competition will be taking place on the College Ave Campus of the New Brunswick campus. The competition will be taking place in two primary locations: Scott Hall & Murray Hall. This area is known as Voorhes Mall (http://rumaps.rutgers.edu/campus/collegeave). Scott Hall will serve as the primary location for the competition, this where postings will be found, registration will occur and tab room located. Scott Hall is two part building. Meaning within the front part of the Voorhes Mall is where you will find two large lecture rooms, but you will need to walk behind (or thru) to the actual classrooms.

2. Football / Parking: On Sat. 15^th Rutgers will be having its homecoming game for the football season. This will effect where you can park on campus. We have secured two lots for teams to park: Lot 11 (http://rumaps.rutgers.edu/location/lot-11)

Below is a letter from parking services saying that we have special event parking access. If there are any troubles please show this portion of the letter. Additionally Rutgers Coach Dr. Matthew Maddex can be reached at 562.215.3990 (cell) on the day of the competition.

1. Teams are limited to 6 entries per event.
2. Students may enter a maximum of 3 events per bracket; 2 duos count as 2 events.
3. The deadline for entry is Wednesday, October 12, 2016 at 5pm eastern.
4. Entry fees are $8 per event slot.
5. Please provide a qualified judge for every eight event slots.
6. Hired judges are available at $10 per uncovered slot.
7. Drop fees are original entry fee plus $10 penalty after entry deadline plus $20 if on Saturday or Sunday.
8. Dropped judges after the entry deadline will each be assessed a $100 fee in addition to standard judge fees.
9. To register for the SNAFU portion, please go to www.speechwire.com, scroll down to SNAFU #2 at Rutgers University and request a password to submit your entry. You should receive by email your password information and can then enter your students and judges at the Speechwire website. You will receive a confirmation email detailing your entry at 6pm on 11/12/2016. Please be sure to check the entry you submitted and immediately correct any errors directly at the Speechwire website.

*** Payment via Check *** must be made out to: Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey or at least, Rutgers University.

1. The Rutgers tournament will offer 2 rounds of preliminary competition and a final round.
2. Any event with more than 50 entries competing in both preliminary rounds will feature a semifinal round.
3. We will offer an award for the top six entries in each individual event (two awards for duos).
4. The top three individual sweeps winners will each receive an award (students must be entered in four events to be eligible).
5. The top three schools will each receive an award.
6. We will use AFA-style rules and tabulation.
7. Both halves will feature a cross-examination period in the extemporaneous speaking final.
