Entry Limits:

There are no team or category entry limits. We are offering the POI category for those teams who compete in the NSDA.

Entry Fees:

$7 per entry; Each duo counts as 1 entry

Entry Changes:

Entry changes (drops or adds) can be made on the Speechwire.com tournament site up until the end of registration. We can also accommodate drops and adds at the registration table the morning of the tournament. We will be site scheduling all rounds of competition in order to make sure rounds are equal and fair. For this reason, registration must be completed promptly by 8:00 AM or a phone call to 605-354-2230 must be made to report your team drops.

Double Entering:

Double entering is allowed in ALL categories, including Discussion. Discussion will start 15 minutes late to accommodate those double entries (discussants should not double enter in a draw category). Draw category double entries are allowed, but students should not double enter in 2 draw categories.

Judging Requirements:

Teams need to bring 1 judge for every 6 entries or fraction thereof. A small number of judges will be available for hire at $85 for the day. Please email Angie Klein by Wednesday, January 11 if you need to hire a judge.

Judging Finals: 

We ask that ALL judges be available to judge final rounds.

Three preliminary rounds and a final

Extemp. Reading Prose Stories 1-15 (students can repeat a cutting from their preliminary rounds in finals)

Extemp. Reading Poetry 1-20 (students can repeat a cutting from their preliminary rounds in finals)

Storytelling Stories 1-8  (students can repeat a story from their preliminary rounds in finals)

Discussion Topic 1

Individual Awards:

Medals awarded to top six in each category

Ribbons given to speakers of excellence

Team Sweepstakes:

Team trophies awarded to top two teams.
