The Concord High School Debate Team formally invites you to attend the 2016 Concord Novice Debate Tournament.  
 
 
General Notes:
  • DEADLINE TO ENTER IS TUESDAY, October 4th at 8:00pm EDT.
  •  
  • Registration will begin at 7:00am EST in front of the Media Center with round 1 in most events starting at 8:30am EDT.
  • All events will go 4 rounds.
  • Food will be available all day for purchase with subs and/or pizza available at lunch.
 
 
 
We will be offering novice competition in:
 
*Public Forum--   Resolved: In United States public K-12 schools, the probable cause standard ought to apply to searches of students.
 
*Lincoln-Douglas--  Resolved: Countries ought to prohibit the production of nuclear power.
 
*Congress- We will be debating Bills 1, 2, 4, 9
 
*World Schools Debate--Resolutions to be debated are as follows:
 
Round 1: Impromptu Motion
 
Round 2:  This House opposes government regulation of the shared economy.
 
Round 3:  This House would eliminate non-medical vaccine exemptions for children.
 
Round 4:  Impromptu Motion 
 
 
Entry Limits:
 
Public Forum/Lincoln-Douglas:  Teams may enter up to 6 teams in each event
 
Congress:  Teams may enter up to 10 entries in congress
 
World Schools:  Teams may bring up to 2 World Schools teams.
 
Judge Requirements:
 
Varsity students with a minimum of 150 NFL points are allowed to judge.
 
Public Forum/Lincoln-Douglas-1 judge per 2 entries or fraction thereof. (E.g. 3 LDer's =2 judges; 1 LDer and 1 PF Team=1 judge)
 
Congress: If you enter congress, please bring 1 judge
 
World Schools Debate: 1 judge 
 
 
 
 
 
In addition, we will be offering Big Ideas Debate in an open division. This is a sponsored debate from the NSDA. This year's topic is:  Resolved: Science leaves no room for free will.
 
 
 
 
We will be offering a $150.00 cash prize for 1st place, $100.00 for 2nd place, and $50.00 for third place.
