Fall Debate Invitational I 

OCTOBER TOURNAMENT

(TENTATIVE AS OF 09/20/2026)

We take pride in hosting this season. This will be an in-person tournament.

When: Saturday, October 3, 2026  Rounds begin at 9:00am EST; doors open 7:30am

Where: Ben Davis HS, 1200 N. Girls School Road, Indianapolis 46214

What:  Novice and Varsity Debate Meet

There will be concessions sales. No outside food please. Your financial support through concessions helps us to host tournaments. Debit/Credit Card school only. 

RENOVATIONS ARE MOSTLY COMPLETED.  We are happy to have you enter through DOOR 1.  All schools will enter through DOOR 1 (the main entrance). Please have judges and competitors report to the cafeteria. Buses and cars should park in the lot nearest DOOR 1.

This tournament registration is located on Speechwire. There will be 3 rounds of competition. There is no team fee. 

We will offer Public Forum,  Policy, and Lincoln-Douglas as novice/varsity and Worlds School Debate & congressional debate as OPEN.  

ENTRIES

• TEAM CAP: - 28 per school - any combination of novice and varsity across the 5 categories. 

• Judge ratio must be met for this tournament. Judge ratio is 1 per 2 entries except congress

• No limit of entries of a category. 

• No second team entry. 

EVENT TOPICS

LINCOLN DOUGLAS AND PUBLIC FORUM - SEPT/OCT TOPICS 

• DIVISIONS - NOVICE AND VARSITY

• LD - Resolved: Outer space colonization is a moral imperative. 

• PF - Resolved: The United States federal government should enact a moratorium on hyperscale data center construction. 

POLICY DEBATE - 2026-2027 NATIONAL TOPIC. 

• DIVISIONS - NOVICE AND VARSITY

• POLICY TOPIC - Resolved: The United States federal government should establish national health insurance in the United States. 

• RESTRICTIONS for Varsity and Novice:

  • No counter-plans

  • No Kritiks

  • No topicality arguments prior to Nov. 1

CONGRESS

• DIVISIONS - OPEN

• Congress Bills will be released Sept. 23.

WORLDS SCHOOL DEBATE

• DIVISIONS - OPEN

• Worlds School prepared topic to be released Sept. 28. 

  • Rounds 1 & 2 - Teams will debate both sides of the prepared topics

    • Sides will be auto assigned - If you debate the affirmative side in round 1, you will debate the negative side in Round 2

  • Round 3 will be the IMPROMPTU ROUND

JUDGES

Schools must bring the following:

• Policy, PF, LD, and WSD - 1 judge per 2 entries for or any fraction there of. 

Example: 1 policy and 2 LDers = 3 judges. Likewise 5 LD and 4 PF= 5 judges. 

• CONGRESS - 1 judge per 1-4 entries.

• Coaches must train your judges. Judges will be placed in any category as needed. No student judges will be allowed at this meet! Please plan accordingly.
