The Wauseon-Rotary Forensic Face-Off
General information This is a High School tournament in Ohio. View manager contact information The Wauseon High School Speech and Debate Team and the Wauseon Rotary cordially invite you to the 2027 Wauseon Rotary Speech & Debate Tournament to be held on Saturday, January 9. Locations: Our tournament will be held at the Wauseon Middle School/Wauseon Elementary School building (940 East Oak Street, Wauseon). If numbers require it, the tournament will extend to Wauseon High School (840 Parkview Street, Wauseon). If the high school is used, we will let everyone know in advance which building each event is being held in. The buildings are within walking distance of each other.
Events: We will hold four rounds of all OSDA high school and middle school events, except for three rounds of policy debate. Double entries (except doubling in both extemps) are permitted for all individual events competitors.
Schedule/Awards: Registration will be held from 7:45-8:15am. Extemp prep and policy debate will begin promptly at 8:30am. The target time for awards is 3:00. Awards will be given to the top six in each event, as well as top novices. Sweepstakes awards will be given to the top 3.
Topics: Public Forum and Lincoln Douglas will use the January debate topic. Congress will use the January 9 legislation.
Cost/Payment: The cost for all high school and middle school students is $6.00 for single-competitor events and $12.00 for all two-person events, plus a $12.00 tech fee per team. Please make all checks payable to Wauseon Speech Team. All teams must arrive with money, check, or a district-approved purchase order at the time of registration. The district W-9 is posted under files for download.
Registration Deadline: The deadline for registration is Wednesday, January 6, at 11:59 pm. Drop fees will be enforced at 12:01 am on Thursday, January 7. Teams will be expected to pay entry fees for any drops after this deadline.
Judges: Judge requirements will follow the standard: one judge for every 5 speech entries, one for every 8 congress entries, and one for every 2 debate entries. All LD and PF judges should expect to be used for both categories. Policy entries will be dropped if there is no judge to cover them. Please remind judges to bring an electronic device for ballots.
Food: A variety of food options will be available to competitors. Please encourage students to bring small bills to the tournament. No electronic payment options will be available. Food for coaches and judges will be provided.
