General Information: The Moorhead Speech Team hopes you will join on Saturday, January 30. Our goal is to provide you with an excellent experience that reminds us all why we love this activity.

Important Dates: 

Registration Deadline:  Monday, January 25th at 5PM

Drop Deadline: Changes can be made to your entry until Wednesday, January 27th at 5PM. Entry fees will be frozen for drops after this time.

8:15AM: Draw Meeting in Media Center 

8:30AM: Judges Meeting 

8:45AM: Discussion Round 1

9:00AM: Round 1

10:15AM: Discussion Round 2 

10:30AM: Round 2

11:45AM: Discussion Round 3 

12:00PM: Round 3

2:00PM: Discussion Final Round  

2:15PM: Final Rounds 

3:15PM: Extemp Musical Theater Final Round (while waiting for awards)

Categories & Double Entering: 

• All NSDA and MSHSL events will be offered.
• The discussion tasks will be released on the live doc at the start of each round.
• In order to facilitate double-entered discussants, the discussion rounds will begin 15 minutes prior to the start of each round.
• Speakers may double and triple enter at your own risk; however, you may not triple enter if you are in any draw category.

Judging Requirements: Teams are expected to bring 1 judge for every 6 entries. Judging slots not covered will incur a $100 fee.

NIETOC Bid Tournament: This tournament is officially a bid tournament site for the National Individual Event Tournament of Champions. Students competing in Varsity Drama, Duo, Extemp. Speaking, Humorous, Informative, Original Oratory, Prose (counts as a Drama bid), or Program Oral Interpretation have the ability to earn a bid that will get them one step closer to competing at the NIETOC Tournament. MSHSL Categories:

• Extemp. Reading (Prose): Students will draw from stories 1-13 in The Remarkable Journey of Coyote Sunrise by Dan Gemeinhart.  No stories may be repeated in rounds or finals.
• Extemp. Reading (Poetry): Poetry selections from Swing (Blink) by Kwame Alexander and Mary Rand Hess
• Storytelling: Varsity students will draw from ALL stories, the novice speakers will draw from 1-10.  No stories may be repeated in rounds or finals.
• Discussion: Area I and II of the Outline
