This is a High School tournament in Indiana.

Brownsburg High School would like to invite you to the Brownsburg Speech and Debate Invitational.  The deadline for pre-registration is Wednesday, November 11.

FORMAT:        

●       All Speech, LD & PF 4 rounds; Congress 2 rounds, CX 3 rounds, World Schools 3 rounds

●       Varsity and Novice divisions

●       Sweepstakes points & certificates for finalists

●       Top 3 sweeps for large school and small school divisions (based on number of entries at the close of check-in)

●       Drops should be reported by 3 PM on Friday, November 13.

TIMING:           

●       7:00-7:45          Check-in

●       7:45                  Judges’ Meeting

●       8:00                  Extemp Draw Begins

●       8:15                  First round begins

●       Rounds begin at 8:15, 9:45, 11:15 and 12:45.  

●       Awards around 3:00 PM

EVENTS:         

●       Drama, Humor, Dec, Duo, Poetry, Prose, Original Performance, Original Oratory, U.S. Extemp, Int’l Extemp, Impromptu, Broadcasting, Discussion, Informative and Programmed Oral Interp.

●       Lincoln-Douglas, Public Forum, Policy, World Schools and Congress

RULES:           

●       Radio:

○       Round 1: News program (music, commercial and news copy supplied on Monday) 5 min overall performance

○       Round 2: Breaking News!

○       Round 3: Editorial (30 min prep)

○       Round 4: Same news program again

●       Extemp:  Draws will occur before Rounds 1 & 3 only. We will be drawing questions via Speechwire. Please make sure students know their passwords and are able to log in prior to the start of draw (or it will become a very long day).

●       Discussion: Artifacts will be released Monday, November 9.

●       World Schools: First two rounds will use same prepared topic but flip sides; Third round will be impromptu.

●       ISSDA Rules will govern all other events.

ENTRIES:        

●       40 entries maximum per school (B Teams will be granted if space is available).

●       4 entries maximum per event per division (4 Novice & 4 Varsity)

DOUBLING:    

●       Competitors MAY NOT double in Discussion

●       Students MAY double in Broadcasting. 

●       Students who are doubled in Impromptu should go to their Impromptu round LAST. 

●       No tripling (and quadrupling is right out)

●       Students MAY NOT double between Speech and Debate events.

JUDGES:       

●       1 judge for every 5 entries or fraction thereof.  (5 entries=1 judge, 6 entries=2 judges)

●       This is an e-ballot tournament, please make sure that all judges bring a device for comments and balloting.

●       Breakfast and lunch will be provided for all judges and coaches.

AWARDS:       

●       Team awards for top 3 in each division (large school, small school - based on number of entries at the close of check-in).

●        Sweepstakes points:

○       1st=6pts, 2nd=5pts, 3rd=4pts, 4th=3pts, 5th=2pts, 6th=1pt.

○       Host school not eligible for team trophy

FOOD:             

●       Students will be available to purchase food and coffee from two food trucks we are hosting. Brozinni’s Pizzeria and The Wandering Bee Coffee. Both trucks accept cards, cash or Apple pay.

●       Menus for both trucks are in the Uploaded Files.

●       Concessions will be available in the cafeteria throughout the day that will include snacks and drinks.

 PARKING AND ENTRANCE:                                         

Please park on the west side of the school.  Your team may enter the building using Door 6 which leads directly to the Main Building cafeteria
