General information

This is a Middle School tournament in Minnesota.

The MCC Rebels invite your team to the 2026 MCC JH Speech Tournament on Thursday, March 12. All students in grades 7-9 are eligible to compete in all 13 Minnesota State High School League categories. Reliable, experienced upperclass speech students may serve as judges. If you choose to use a student judge, please indicate in the Judges’ Comments box the category in which they compete. I will make every effort to ensure they are not assigned to judge that category to avoid potential conflicts with students they may compete against.

Our school day ends at 3:12 p.m. You are welcome to arrive before the 3:30 p.m. registration time; however, buses will not depart from King Ave. until 3:20 p.m. Please have buses drop off students at the main entrance on the north or northwest side of the school (28th St. and King Ave.). If you arrive early, students will be directed to the cafeteria to wait until the building has cleared. Please discourage them from searching for rooms until about 3:30 p.m.

Schedule:

3:30-3:45 pm……..Registration in the Front Hallway- Students can set up in the Cafeteria

4:00 pm……..Draws for Round 1

4:30 pm…….Round 1

5:15 pm…….Draws for Round 2

5:45 pm……Round 2

7:00 pm…….Round 3     (Draw categories repeat Round 1 or Round 2)

8:30 pm……...Awards

Registration Deadline: Wednesday, March 11 

You may bring as many students as you like, and double-entries are allowed (except in Discussion). Please enter all drops and adds on Speechwire.

Drop Deadline: Thursday, March 12, by 12:00 pm. (After 12 pm, please call or text 507-360-5783)

Location: MCC High School, 2420-28th St., Slayton, MN 56172 (After buses drop students off, they may park in the south parking lot)

Judges: Please provide one judge for every 6 entries or a fraction thereof. We will most likely not have many judges available for hire - let us know ASAP if you need to make arrangements. Judges should bring an electronic device for recording ballots and critiques. Paper ballots will be available if necessary. There will be meal tickets for coaches/judges. 

Fees: $7.00 per entry. Duo pairs $14.00.  Make checks payable to MCC Speech Team

Concessions: We plan to have pizza and a variety of other concessions available for students and judges.
