Adams Middle School Speech Meet
General information This is a Middle School tournament in Nebraska. View manager contact information
Dear Speech Coaches,
It is my pleasure to extend an invitation to your team for the annual Adams Middle School Speech Tournament to be held on Saturday, April 18, 2026.
We are excited to continue seeing growth in Middle School Speech in Western Nebraska. This is an excellent opportunity to begin building a program that will offer younger students experiences to grow before they even enter high school!
The Adams Middle School Tournament will be run similarly to a high school tournament. Maximum times for each event will not be changed. Minimum times will be eliminated. The goal is to give these kids an opportunity to practice speaking and competing.
Our Middle School students have been so excited to join in this activity this year and it is growing quickly here in Western Nebraska. We look forward to hosting a larger tournament this year!
We will run nine of the ten NSAA events. The only event change will be Extemp. We will *not* have Extemp at the tournament, instead we will run Impromptu. Impromptu will have a 10 minute time that can be split however the student would like between prep and speaking. No minimum speaking time.
Registration for the tournament will begin at 8:15 a.m. We will have two flights of events, but will try to have 2 judges per round to provide students with the most amount of feedback that we can.
8:15 Registration
9:00 a.m. Round 1, Flight A: Duet, Impromptu, Informative, Humorous Prose, Poetry
10:00 a.m. Round 1, Flight B: Entertainment, OID, Serious Prose, Persuasive, POI
11:00 a.m. Round 2, Flight A
12:00 p.m. Round 2, Flight B
approx. 1:30 p.m. Awards
This will be two rounds, no finals event. Students may triple enter at their own discretion. The top three to six (up for discussion with admin still) in each category will be awarded medals.
Entry Fees will be $7.00 for each entry, individual or group. Please try to provide a judge for each of six entries or part thereof. If you are unable to do so, there will be a $75 fee per judge expense. Entry deadline is Wednesday, April 16, 2026 at 12:00 noon. No adds will be accepted after this time. Drops will only be accepted by e-mailing awillard@nppsd.org.
You may have many (hopefully) questions. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions.
