Columbus Lakeview Invite
General information This is a High School tournament in Nebraska. View manager contact information
Dear Speech Coach(es),
I am excited to invite you to the Columbus Lakeview Invite on Saturday, February 28, 2026 at Columbus Lakeview High School. We look forward to hosting each of your teams for an awesome day of competition!
SpeechWire
This tournament will be run using SpeechWire. We will be using e-ballots - since it looks like they will soon be the status quo at both the district and state speech levels. You and your judges will need to provide your own devices.
Entry Deadline
All preliminary entries are due no later than Monday, February 23rd at 5:00 PM. We will take drops up until the morning of the tournament; however, we will not allow adds after the preliminary-entry deadline. As far as judge requirements go, we are asking that you provide one qualified judge for every six entries that you register. A $25 missing judge fee will be assigned if you are unable to provide enough judges to cover all of your entries. Because our invite is close to several conference competitions, we cannot stress enough how important it is to bring qualified judges. We want our competitors to have awesome feedback heading into conference and district competitions.
Tournament Schedule
Our tournament will include varsity only and feature all10 NSAA events. Competitors may compete in up to three events. We will use the following schedule:
7:15 AM - Registration (please enter through the west activity doors)
7:45 AM - Judges'/coaches meeting (Library)
8:00 AM - Round 1 Flight A - OID, Humorous Prose, Poetry, POI, and Informative
8:15 AM - Extemp Draw in Library
9:15 AM - Round 1 Flight B - Duet Acting, Serious Prose, Extemp, Persuasive, and Entertainment
10:30 AM - Round 2 Flight A
10:45 AM - Extemp Draw in Library
11:45 AM - Round 2 Flight B
1:00 PM - FINALS Flight A
2:00 PM - FINALS Flight B
4:00 PM - Awards Ceremony (East Gym)
Quick Note on Extemp
All Extemp materials will be checked prior to the first round of competition. Students may use both traditional print files and electronic files or access to the internet. There are plenty of outlets available for students to use for their devices. Laptop computers may be charged between rounds. Most importantly, we ask that extemp competitors must be on time for their rounds.
Entry Limits
There are currently no limits on the number of entries a team may have in any of the events, but we reserve the right to limit entries if necessary. When you enter teams for duet and OID, be sure to include the names of all competitors.
Hospitality Room & Concessions
A hospitality room will be available throughout the day for coaches, judges, and drivers, offering breakfast, lunch, and snacks. If you are in need of caffeine, do not fear. The hospitality room will have plenty of coffee, tea, pop, and juice.
Concessions will be available all day. You will locate the concession stand right by our main gym and near the registration table.

I just want to end with a final note. The Speech community is awesome. My students have forged lifelong friendships with competitors from other schools. The goal of this tournament is to have our students compete in a competitive environment - similar to what they will experience in their respective conference, district, and state competitions. We want awesome critiques and awesome performances in a supportive, speech-loving atmosphere. On behalf of the Lakeview Speech crew, we hope you join us for a fun day!
If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
