Sylvania Southview Rotary Invitational
General information This is a High School tournament in Ohio. View manager contact information We invite you to the Southview Rotary Invitational ONE-DAY tournament. We will be hosting a full day of Congressional Debate, 4 prelims of speech plus a finals, and six rounds of LD and PF debate (powering after Round 2) We also will be offering Middle School events and will allow double entries. We are not capping any events so long as teams can cover their judges and understand they *may* hit their own team members.
See the following for information on times: -Registration will be from 8:00am-8:30am. -Judges meeting at 8:30am -Rounds begin at 9:00 a.m. (Extemp Draw starts at 8:30).
Entry fee is $7.00 per student. There are no caps in LD, Congress and PF. provided you can cover your judges and understand competitors *may* hit their own team members. Checks should be made out to Southview Speech and Debate Boosters. Please do NOT bring a Purchase Order. We accept cash or checks! All events are in-person.
Tab: will be in one of the classrooms to the left of the Cafeteria
Extemp Prep: will be in the Library/Media Center There will be cross ex for the final round, of extemp events
Judges Lounge: Will be in the science wing, in the home economics / consumer science area Student Lounge: Will be in the main portion of the Cafeteria Awards: Will be in the Auditorium
Judge Requirements: -1 for every 2 Entries in LD/PF/MS-ED/CX -1 for every 5 Entries in Speech (I.E.) events -1 for every 5 Entries in Congressional Debate (MS-CD/CD)
**There is a $50 fee for all uncovered judge requirements (this is what we pay our for hire judges for the day)
Debate Topics: Lincoln-Douglas Debate – 2026 January/February Topic Resolved: The possession of nuclear weapons is immoral. Public Forum Debate – 2026 January Topic Resolved: The People’s Republic of China should substantially reduce its international extraction of natural resources. Policy Debate – 2025-2026 Topic Resolved: The United States federal government should significantly increase its exploration and/or development of the Arctic. Middle School Congressional Debate --OSDA Middle School Docket Even Numbered legislation Varsity Congressional Debate --ODSA Docket: January Week 3 Congressional Debate Legislation
