The Summit at Summit High School in beautiful Breckenridge is live!

 

It’s almost time for The Summit!!!  Please join us on Saturday, January 17th at Summit High School in Breckenridge, Colorado.

All schools welcome!

For our tournament, we will use the following definitions for you to decide who will compete from your team in which division and who is able to judge:

 

1.) A novice is anyone who has competed in less than one season of the particular event.

2.) We will accept judges who graduated high school in 2025 or earlier and (preferably) have previous speech or debate experience 

 

The Public Forum Debate topic will be the January/February NSDA topic

 

The Lincoln Douglas Debate topic will be the January/February NSDA topic

 

Congress legislation is due January 5th at 11:59pm. At least one entry per school with congressional entries is required and the docket will be released no later than January 10th. 

 

IX/DX topics will be sent to all schools no later than January 10th.

Students may enter one event from each wave. NO DOUBLING within waves. The tournament will run the events as follows (2 preliminary and 1 final for all events except Congress, which will have 3 rounds):

Please register at www.speechwire.com by Wednesday, January 14th. Please make it a priority to stick to that deadline. There will be a drop fee of $5.00 after Wednesday, January 14th at 11:59 pm

 

Check-in will be open from 7-7:30am on the 17th. To respect everyone’s travel times please be on time, as rounds will start with or without you.

JUDGES

 

Please enter how many judges you plan to bring via Speechwire.  Since this is a Varsity tournament please bring as many judges as you can!

 

All coaches not assigned a particular job should expect to judge (our judge pool is very limited in our small community so thank you for your help and understanding). 

 

Registration is $10.00 per individual event and $20.00 per team.  

 

There will be a drop fee of $5.00 after Wednesday, January 14th at 11:59 pm.

 

Checks can be mailed or brought on the day of. Checks should be made out to Summit High School Speech and Debate Team. Visiting teams will not be refunded entry fees for drops made on the morning of the meet.

FOOD

 

We will be providing breakfast items, juice, snacks, and lunch for all coaches and judges. 

 

Also, we will have concessions open for the competitors all day with lunch items to purchase. Please encourage your students to buy from concessions as it’s one of our main fundraisers. We do our best to offer variety and the kids work really hard! Thank you!
