Dear Forensics Coach:

 

Another season is upon us and this year DeForest is proud to announce our regular season tournament.  Our tournament date is Saturday, January 31, 2026.  I anticipate a very good turnout again this year.

 

REGISTRATION:

Schools may register at http://www.speechwire.com

 

REGISTRATION DEADLINE:

Registration will close at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, January 23.  You may add and drop entries until midnight on Thursday, January 29. We must limit entries due to space.  We will accommodate the first 500 entries on a first come, first served basis.

 

DAY of TOURNAMENT DROPS and CHECK-IN:  All schools are required to text their drops or confirm their attendance by 7:30 am on Saturday morning. We need to know of your drops or if everyone is present!!!  

A sample text might be like this:

Sun Prairie, DROP prose Z99-Sally,  DROP Expos Z2-Jim

Check in will start at 7:45AM in the High School Office.  All participating schools are expected to be checked-in no later than 8:15 AM.

 

RULES:

WISDAA rules will be used for all categories with allowances made for WFCA variations.   Duo Interpretation and OIL will also be offered.  Public Address will not be offered.

Location: 

The High School is still located at 815 Jefferson St. DeForest, WI 53532. But, DeForest High school has been remodeled. YOU NEED TO KNOW THAT THE ENTRANCE IS NOT ON JEFFERSON ST.  You now enter on the west side of the building next to the large parking lot.  The other changes you will see when you get here.

 

SCHEDULE:

7:45              Registration

8:30              Radio/Extemp drawings begin in the LMC

8:35 Student meeting in Cafeteria and Judges’ Meeting

9:00              Round I

10:30            Round II

11:45            Round III

1:15              Power Rounds begin

2:45              Awards in the auditorium

 

DOUBLE-ENTRIES:

Double entries are allowed.

 

AWARDS:

The top three in each category will receive trophies.  The remaining power round contestants will receive medals. Team trophies will go to the top five schools.  First and Second place small team trophies will go to the schools with 6-14 original entries that earns the best average per entry.

 

FOOD: Students may purchase lunch in the high school cafeteria.  Food for judges and bus drivers will be provided.

 

FEES: 

A fee of $10.00 for each individual entry and $12.00 for Play Acting, Group Interpretation and Duo Interp based on your registration as of Thursday, January 23.

Refunds will not be made for drops after midnight on Friday, January 30.

JUDGES: 

Each school must provide one judge for every five entries or portion of five entries. Each group, duo or play is considered one entry.  Bring your own judges.  If you are having problems filling a judging assignment, DeForest may be able to hire one for you at $100 per judge. If you wish to have a judge hired for you please e-mail me at hstark@deforestschoools.org by Friday, January 23. Schools are still responsible for their number of judges as of midnight on Thursday, January 29.

JV TEAMS: We will accept JV entries. (Entries over 25 count as JV.)
