The Global Perspectives Debate: Inaugural Multilingual World Schools Debate Tournament 

A New Era of International Dialogue!

Join us for the First Annual Global Perspectives Debate, a groundbreaking tournament dedicated to fostering international understanding, linguistic diversity, and intellectual exchange through the dynamic format of World Schools Debate. This is more than a competition, it's a global forum where language and ideas converge.

Official Debate Motion

The core debate motion for the tournament will be:

"This House believes that developing countries should prioritize industrialization over environmental protection."

Multilingual Rounds Structure

The competition promotes genuine multilingualism:

• Round One: All teams compete on the motion in English.

• Round Two: All teams compete on the motion in their selected language.

• Note: Further rounds may be held in English or the selected language, dependent on the final schedule.

Official Languages

The official languages for the tournament are:

• English

• Spanish (Español)

• Portuguese (Português)

• French (Français)

• Haitian Creole (Kreyòl Ayisyen)

• Russian (Русский)

• Ukrainian (Українська)

World Schools Format

• Team Composition: 3 to 5 students per team.

• Speech Time: 8-minute substantive speeches, 4-minute reply speeches.

Concessions

• Pizza and soda will be sold at the concessions stand. NO OUTSIDE FOOD OR BEVERAGES PERMITTED. Host schools use concessions as a fundraiser. Support your tournament host by purchasing food on site.

Welcome, Coaches! We are thrilled to host the inaugural Global Perspectives Debate tournament at iPrep Academy North in Miami, FL. Please use speechwire to manage your team and judge registrations.

Important Dates & Deadlines

Logistical Details

• Venue: iPrep Academy North, 1420 NE 215th Street, Miami, FL 33179

• Registration Fee: FREE (No fees required to register).

• Team Size: Teams must consist of 3 to 5 students.

• Official Motion: "This House believes that developing countries should prioritize industrialization over environmental protection."

Language & Round Structure

• Round One: Competed in English.

• Round Two: Competed in the team's chosen language: Spanish, Portuguese, French, Haitian Creole, Russian, or Ukrainian.

• Language Selection: Coaches must clearly specify their team's secondary language track during registration.

Judge Requirement

• Mandatory Judge: Each team is required to register one qualified judge per team at the time of registration.

• Note: Failure to register a judge will result in the team being dropped from the competition. Judges missing a round without a documented emergency will result in a $100.00 fee.
