Angels and Demons
General information This is a High School tournament in Colorado. View manager contact information
Welcome! The speech and debate teams of Golden and Denver East are thrilled to invite you to the tournament "Angels and Demons" hosted at Golden High School. 701 24th St, Golden, CO 80401
Events: HI, DI, Duo, POE, POI, OO, INF, IX, USX, PF. LD, CX, Congress, and Impromptu Impromptu will use NSDA rules. Competitors will draw a topic and then have 7 minutes total for both preparation and delivery.
Double Entry: Students in LD, PF, CX, or Congress should not try to double enter. Extempers who double risk losing prep time. Congress: Congress will run three rounds, each roughly an hour, with a different judge in each round. When those rounds are scheduled will be announced closer to the tournament.
1. Currently planning on three rounds, recognizing top speakers in each chamber instead of a final round. That might change as we get closer and know final numbers better.
2. Students will start with the first bill and then just move through the docket at their own pace. They will need to end debate on a bill before ending the round. Meaning chambers might move through the docket at different paces.
Judges: Please bring them! 1 judge for every 2 debates, 1 for every 6 speech entries.
Schedule: The schedule is subject to change. We will run events ahead of schedule if we have the judges and rooms to do so. Please have your students watch the schedule and encourage them to stay on campus, we will not hold rounds for absent competitors.
AI Policy The use of AI Generative Models and Large Language Models is both discouraged and prohibited. Students who navigate to these websites during tournaments will face consequences up to and including disqualification. For example, debaters should not navigate to these websites during a debate, and Extempers should not navigate to these websites during prep time. Presenting AI work as your own is viewed as plagiarism.
Our expectation is that students have not used these websites in the creation process of their speech or performance. Navigating to AI websites during competition, even to retrieve previously searched information, is against this policy. Ultimately, this policy seeks to preserve and prioritize student critical thinking and reading comprehension in their performance.
