General Information on Speechwire

We invite you to the Northview Rotary Invitational ONE-DAY tournament.  We will be hosting 3 rounds of Congress, 3 rounds of 2 Person Policy, 4 prelims of speech, and 4 rounds of LD and PF debate (powering after Round 2)  We also will be offering Middle School events and will allow double entries.  For Middle School Events we will be hosting 2 rounds of Congress, 3 prelims of speech, and 3 rounds of EXD and PF debate (powering for the final rounds). This way the Middle School Competitors will each get 1 round off and be able to observe other events. We are not capping any events so long as teams can cover their judges and understand they *may* hit their own team members. We are trying out something new this year with Northview hosting on their own so please come join us! We look forward to hosting you in November!

See the general invitation for information on times, Rounds begin at 9 a.m. (Extemp Draw starts at 8:30!). Entry fee is $5.00 per student. There are no caps in LD, Congress and PF. provided you can cover your judges and understand competitors *may* hit their own team members.

Checks should be made out to Northview Speech and Debate Boosters.

Please do NOT bring a Purchase Order. We accept cash or checks!

All events are in-person.

Tournament Schedule 

Tab: will be in room B9 to the left of the Cafeteria 

Extemp Prep: will be in the Library/Media Center on the second floor 

• There will be cross ex for the final round, round 4, of extemp events 

Judges Lounge: On the right side of the Cafeteria as you enter where we have our “Commons”

Student Lounge: Will be in the main portion of the Cafeteria, separated from the “Commons” Area

Debate Topics: 

• Lincoln-Douglas Debate – 2025 November/December Topic

Resolved: The United States ought to rewild substantial tracts of land.

• Public Forum Debate – 2025 November/December Topic

Resolved: The United States federal government should require technology companies to provide lawful access to encrypted communications.

• Policy Debate – 2025-2026 Topic

Resolved: The United States federal government should significantly increase its exploration and/or development of the Arctic.

• Middle School Congressional Debate 

OSDA Middle School Docket Even Numbered legislation 

• Varsity Congressional Debate 

ODSA Docket: November Week 2 Congressional Debate Legislation

Judge Requirements:

(Speech Judges will be asked to cover MS Extemp Debate. Please Prepare them accordingly)

• 1 for every 2 Entries in LD/PF/MS-PF

• 1 for every 5 Entries in Speech (I.E.) & MS-ED Events

• 1 for every 5 Entries in Congressional Debate (MS-CD/CD)

• There is a $50 fee for all uncovered judge requirements (this is what we pay our for hire judges for the day)

• Please check the tournament downloads for judging resources for your events
