Colleagues,
We would like to invite you to the Pejaver Memorial Tournament hosed by Middle Tennessee State University in beautiful Murfreesboro, TN. The Blue Raider Speech & Debate Team and Department of Communication Studies faculty look forward to offering a comprehensive tournament. Additionally, we are honored to be host the IPDA national championship on our campus in April of 2026. So we invite you to come compete at our tournament as we pilot some features to make the Pejaver & future national tournament a more enjoyable experience for all. You can find most information for the tournament in the tournament invitation located in the "files for download" page above. Please note important tournament updates below:
Events: In addition to IPDA, we will offer an IE tournament and two team formats of debate: Team IPDA and TN Parli (TNPDA as a whole & novice/open divisions pending enough entries to sustain the format).
General Schedule (details on Speechwire & Invitation Document): Team Formats (TIPDA + TNPDA) begin on the afternoon of Friday, October 31st and into the morning of Saturday, November 1st. IE + IPDA will begin on the afternoon of Saturday, November 1st and proceed through Sunday, November 2nd.
UPDATES: Please note the following adjustments to this year's tournament/updates, You can find more info in the full touranment invite document:
1. We will be using e-ballots for all events. Please make sure your competitors/judges have linked Speechwire accounts.
2. UPDATE TO SCHEDULE: Please note new TIPDA/TN Parli round start times in the invitation document--the schedule on this page will be updated to reflect those changes.
3. FOR IPDA ONLY!!!! ALL NON-ADVANCING IPDA COMPETITORS CAN AND (VERY LIKELY) WILL BE USED AS JUDGES IN ELIMINATION ROUNDS. To make this process easier, PLEASE ENTER your competitors for this tournament as “judges” in the IPDA COMPETITOR JUDGING CATEGORY ON SPEECHWIRE. This will give you a chance to input your competitors email so they can receive their e-ballots and keep the tournament ON TIME Enter your IPDA competitors for this tournament in the “IPDA Competitor Judges” ONLY (NOT the standard IPDA judge category as this is the category used for ALL rounds, including pre-lims). Tournament staff will activate the non-advancing competitors ONLY in that category for elimination rounds & ensure that they are blocked against the event that they are competing in at this tournament. NON-ADVANCING IPDA COMPETITOR JUDGES do not count towards covered entries/uncovered fees. Please enter ALL competitor names & email addresses that where receive their e-ballots if they do not advance. Tournament staff will begin contacting programs on Monday, October 27th.
We are excited that the tournament is on Halloween and will have Halloween themed decorations and treats (hopefully not too many tricks) throughout the weekend (see full invitation for details on the costume contest!) Please do not hestitate to reach out with any questions you may have!
We hope to see you soon!
